Late last night on TNT both Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller said they expected some good things out of these Knicks, this year. John Thompson did an interview with Steph that was great, too much to go into. But when they came back from the interview Reggie said that the Knicks are his dark horse this year. Ernie then asked him if that meant playoffs and he said they could fight for the 7,8 seeds or at least be an upset specialist for the teams fighting for the last spots but he likes the direction. Then Charles said that he thought the Knicks would have a great second half and be real dangerous. It was good stuff all around. When guys like Reggie and Charles say stuff, I listen and respect. So I was happy to hear them at least saying some positives. They liked how hard they played most of all. Anyhow, thought I'd share...
"It was good," Curry said. "I killed Malik, Jerome. The usual suspects. It felt good."

nice... we have been bad but we have also been showing some very positive signs. A couple things also...
You figure JAmes, Curry and Q will get healthy at some point. Also after Bos on Sunday we head off for another West coast trip. When we come home after the Pho game we will have played 6 home games and 13 road games.

So there's a good chance we get healthy, hit our stride and get a favorable schedule all at the same time and really bounce back

Only the sensational media and emotionally over wrought fans think differrently than the wise sage Barkley and his new friend Reggie.

Larry himself said this from last summer its gonna be rocky.

Many trade ideas floated here on this site. I think we are way underqualified to know the market values of what we want, nor do we understand how our expiring contracts are to be used.

We have 6 players at or under the age of 22! We have two major contracts coming off the books.

We still have a no.1 pick next year, and swap only with Chicago the year after.

I like the direction we are going in and unless we are presented with an offer we cant refuse, I say sit tight and let it all happen. 14 games and 5-9 is not painic time.

This is not an established team not playing well. This is a very unestablished team playing into a new system. We are the second youngest team in the league and we got penny and Ad coming off the books.

Those comments by barkely and miller are not prerequisite that we fleece a team for a trade, its based on our current roster.

We are the second youngest team in the league

NOK, Boston, Bobcats, Hawks, Blazers, Jazz, Milwaukee, Chicago - all younger.

this is a squad on par age wise with the majority of the league.

yeah, but are you counting Penny in that? As far as active roster, I think I did hear the Knicks are one of the youngest, even with AD from the Stone Age.

no I'm not.

I'm counting Marbury Taylor Malik Rose AD. Didn't include him but Jerome James is set to return as well.

Sorry but the Knicks are on par with the rest of the league as far as age.

did you do the math or are you guesstimating.

Marbury, 28
Crawford, 25
Curry, 23
Frye, 22
Ariza, 20
Lee, 22
Butler, 20
Richardson, 25
Taylor, 29
James, 30
Rose, 31
Davis, 37

the avg age is 26.

forgot about Nate, 21. Won't change the avg of 26 which is on par with the avg age for the league.

Avg age is the MOST misleading Stat (if you call it that in the NBA.....Penny, Taylor, and James hardly get any minutes at all...based on the actual players that play meaningful minutes....our avg age is 24.9 (counting Nate, not counting Penny, Barnes, JJ, Taylor)

you can discount players on the end of the bench for every team and mostly all would show a lower avg age with the exception of the Pacers Spurs Heat and Pistons aka legit championship contenders. Dallasmay be the lone exception amongst the NBA's elite. With Christie retiring, Damp is the only 30 year old who will see significant playing time. More amazingly, the only other 30 yr old on the roster is Darrell Armstrong. They have done an excellent job keeping their team young and highly competitive.

btw,
Taylor gets more minutes than Lee so if you count Lee you mst count Taylor.

It's real nice to hear these two guys say these good things about the Knicks, since Barkley over the last 3 yrs has been saying nothing but bad things about the Knicks and Miller being a Knick killer all those yrs, it means alot to hear them finally say something positive about the Knicks.

I said the average age of the 12 man roster (AKA in some circles as the ACTIVE ROSTER) is 23.5. Do the math yourself. The active roster does not include Penny or Jerome James. It does, however you may try to deny it include Nate Robinson, who happened to start the last game, in case you missed it.

And Curry is 22, not 23. He turns 23 soon, but you're changing facts to suit your "argument."

These are accurate numbers for both active roster and full team roster. Besides ESPN has the average age, height and weight listed for each team on their Roster listing, but It should be fun to figure out the average age for the starting 5, Second Unit, and then Bench for each team or at least the Knicks.

It's funny, we went from being happy about praise from two knick and zeke haters to debating the age of our roster.

Thanks a bunch knick hater mck1. I'm so glad you post here. What would we do without you and knight to kick us when we're up and isles to kick us when we're down.

Why do you post anyway?

If you're "up" after a 5-9 start with an admittedly flawed team...good for you.

Why not being Up?. It's very early in the season, and it's a long one in case you aren't aware of that, it takes time and patience to reap the benefits of LB's wisdom and experience, he will turn this as you call it an admittedly flawed team, which alot of teams seem to be, there is always room for improvement no matter who you are.

Goddamn man, Curry turns 23 in a week. Take James off put Nate on and you end up with 25.7, 25.8.

NY is on par with the league average. That is an exceptional thing as compared to the Layden years. Now if out of this bunch emerges someone who is both young and dominant, then it becomes time to sing.
