NY Daily News - In recent years, the behind-the-scenes battles between the Knicks and Bulls have been every bit as compelling as what has taken place on the court. And it's about to get better with Atlanta's Al Harrington looming as the top free agent this summer.

Chicago could have close to $22 million in cap space to sign Harrington, who has been the object of Isiah Thomas' desires since the Knicks president arrived in New York. Thomas has tried for two years to acquire Harrington, a small forward the Knicks covet. But the Knicks' best and perhaps only chance to acquire Harrington will have to be in a trade before the February deadline.

Atlanta has made it clear to the Knicks that in order to get Harrington they would have to part with Channing Frye, which is something Thomas will not do. Hawks GM Billy Knight has been a thorn in the Knicks' side for the past two years. In successive years, the Knicks tried to acquire Rasheed Wallace and Antoine Walker before the Hawks dealt them to the Pistons and Celtics, respectively.

No way I give up Frye...I offer Ariza and Penny for Harrington, Lue, and Delk OR Q and Ariza for Harrington and Lue OR Delk

Nope because Billy Knight does not do trades with Isiah Thomas and that is a fact jack! He think he might get screwed even though he has been screwed twice already.

Night seems to have it in for IT, he always does something to screw him over. I don't think that will change. Only way we can get Harrington is if he signs to the full MLE with us, whish I dout.

He is not good either, a guy w/out a real position, is he a PF or is he a SF? He doesnt really have the range, not is he big enough. He strikes me as a bench player, 6th man, like he was in Indy.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

if by then we do NOT have an in house solution at the 3 (reezy, Q) then it makes sense, however, if we don't have a solution, the hawks won't take our non-solutions.

Billy Knight is a dumb **** that has no idea how to run a franchise, he should not have a job and will not do anything to help the knicks....

I don't part with the Kids period for Harrington, they are all going to be good players, he has to be out of his mind if he thinks the Knicks would give up frye.....

Hows Chris Paul doing hes already a top six pg in my mind and the franchise would have went in the right direction had they not been stupid enough to draft Marvin Williams

Why not throw money at Sammy, or Curry instead of bringing in a swing man.....I would offer Butler, Ariza, and a second round pick, thats the best they are getting

He should be run out of town for not swapping picks with the #3 person or straight up drafting Chris Paul. He is an idiot. His team has like 5 swingmen and no PG. Stupid stupid man. Trade for JJ to run the point???

Like Chris Rock said: Just cause a woman CAN raise a child by herself doesn't mean its a good idea.

Just cause JJ can play some point, doesn't mean its a good idea.

He could have had

Chris Paul
Joe Johnson
Harrington
Josh Smith
ZaZa Gabor

Thats a really nice young team. He should lose his job for his ineptitude.

Channing Frye for Al Harrington? Is he high?

They're not gonna get any player of as young and promising as Frye for Al Harrington. I mean Frye looks like he could be runner up for ROY right now. This is probably just spin from Atlanta.

Tell you what, Harrington is not a star he is a solid starter quality 3 with some upper p[otential that he doesn't seem to want to reach, IMO

think he would trade marvin williams for frye straight up now? not saying we should at all, but we should definitely be happier with our draft than they should.

by the way, all this talk about Billy Knight hating IT made me wonder. that one poster who keeps trying to **** in our cereal after every win? what's his name? "Knight," isn't it...

I'd do Ariza, Butler, and Q but I doubt they would. Harrington would make our frontcourt very formidable and young.

Actually, the front court would be older than it is now after you ship out the two youngest players and our only consistent outside threat (historically/when healthy)
I'd never do that trade.

Doesn't he play for a crappy team with no coaching structure and he's putting up 18/8, he comes here and we have Frye, Curry, Craw and Marbs...no way he's gonna get 18/8.

Wouldn't he basically be ariza (costing WAAAAAY More BTW) and be allowed to shoot when ariza is allowed to shoot?

Are we looking to just pick up pieces (like everyone has critisized zeke for doing so far) or are we looking to compliment our current core to put us over the top?

If this were fantasy basketball, I'd make the trade, but unfortunately, we have Larry Brown coaching the team, and he doesn't run Phoenix' offense.

At this point, I'd rather have TT for the mid level exception (i.e. Free)

um...this is not a very good trade idea. I suggest you head back to the drawing board and try again. We basically lose both of our diamonds in the rough.

He is a fool, and a idiot, IT is not stupid enough to even entertain frye for Harrington. Billy knight is the reason why the Hawks franchise right now is a mess... a big reason..

knight did make a run for sammy and he was turned down, heck kenyon martin didn't even grant him a vist last year when offered max money. The bulls scared Billy away from eddy. Instead of forcing the bulls hands with all his cap space, he went into the fetal position and sucked his thumb in a corner. he is a idiot..

Please don't ever refer to Bulter or Ariza as a diamond in the rough, and moving Q with either of them isn;t a bad move at all to open up a roster spot, harrington is a lot to handle in the post and was great for indiana as a complement and would be the same for us......
