"I don't think my role of playing 13 or 15 minutes a game is acceptable," Patterson told the newspaper this week. "I deserve to play 25-plus minutes, but if they want me to play 12 minutes [like he did in his last game against New York], then they can just put me on the inactive list. I mean, those are rookie minutes."

Just a little excerpt from the article. What a idiot this guy is, he's getting paid millions of dollars to play in the NBA and 12-15 minutes a game is too LITTLE for the guy? I know some people on this board want Ruben, but why the hell would any of us want to put up with this headache, let alone the rest of the team and the coach. The guy WONT play if he doesn't get 25 minutes a game. Geez.

well, glad your not running things because I doubt we would NOTve had guys like John Starks, Anthony Mason Latrell Sprewell. Oh man Latrell choked his coach and he's been a bad seed

He wants to play and wants to compete and is playing behind players he is better than. I understand his frustration and none of that changes the fact that I would like to have him here. I want players who want to win, and he is that. I don't want a guy who is happy sitting on the bench because he has a fat check. I want someone who wants to play and wants to win. Go get me the Kobe-Stopper!!!

yeah.....I mean I look at his comments as a possitive. The dude wants to play. He's not even asking to be a starter....he just wants to play 25 mins per. He wants to feel like he is helping his team.

Their positive? How it is positive that the coach thinks his best role for the team is to play 12-15 minutes a game. If he was interested in helping the team he'd play what the coach tells him too, not say, I play 25 minutes a game or "put me on the inactive list."

Sprewell is now not anywhere in the league becuase of the antics he's done throughout this career. He's asking for 5mill a year, I'd say he's well-worth that much money but teams don't want to take a chance becasue of his horrible attitude.

I would love to see spree play the three for us, i wish there was a way we could move Q or crawford to make it happen, those guys are not winning players

Yeah don't you remember, he guided the Wolves back to the playoffs last season.

I know that was a cheapshot, he was too worry about feeding his kids.

I think Patterson's statement shows the type of player he is. He plays with a lot of emotion and wears his heart on his sleeve. He wants to win and contribute to the team I see nothing wrong with that. How he said it might not have been correct but some people don't have that filter from the brain to the mouth or even know how to put words in the right context which gives the writers for the fish wrap ample ammo.

I know he's had his problems on and off the court, but every time I've seen him he gives 100%, his hustle and energy changes games around. He wouldn't be a bad addition especially if LB could harness that energy.

Of course he would have to play 25 minutes

That trade would be perfect. But how much of an ass do you think dolan is. The guy humiliated him right in front of his family, in the streets that grounds for serious retaliation.

I once heard that he would be willing to take spree back when IT first got here, but I'm not sure if there was any truth to it.

If portland is winning then RP is just being a Jerk, but if the opposite is whats transpiring then he has a valid point. It's really to early to get a grasp on which teams are actually bad, OK, good or great. You probably won't be able to tell that until at least 25 to 30 games in, by then every one should have a feel for each other and the system there in.

Well, I'll concede I must be wrong since everyone else that posted in this thread is for Ruben. I'll just be weary of him if the Knicks ever got him.

Funny, TT basically said the same thing to Skiles it appears, and Skiles banished him forever. And the Knicks announcers tonight were bashing him saying he must not have been practicing hard, how could he not do more in a contract year, etc. Fact: Lots of guys don't practice hard. Skiles was being a ball buster for a guy he didn't like. TT wasn't going to be treated like a rookie. Players aren't always wrong. Maybe Skiles is an a**hole. Certainly TT is less of one than Reuben Patterson.

TT was pissed because of lack of playing time (with Skiles). He was angry at Skiles and it became a pissing contest, with the coach winning, who controls the playing time. Rebeun Patterson molests women and makes them perform oral sex. Check his criminal history and prior arrests, and then get back to me.

Here is some material for you to ponder on this "quality guy" Ruben Patterson.

Ok I'll back you up. I think it's a problem when players act like Ruben. Most players think they are good enough to play - but obviously not everyone can play. So players can be unhappy but if everyone who isn't playing as much as he wants to whines about it you got 7 or 8 guys on the team whining. If you add in the players who are playing but aren't totally satisfied with their role you might have two guys on the roster who aren't btchn. It is not a sign of a good team player. Good team players can be competitive and fight for more time without btchn to the papers.

I don't have overwhelming affections for Ruben, but what if he was KILLING guys in practice, playing his balls off every day and still not getting clock? Probably didn't happen, but that is for sure reason to explode.

I guess it should matter if he practices hard (Ruben). I am not sure if it does in the NBA. But with a history off the court like his, I know I wouldn't want him. There are tough, physical players who aren't borderline convicts.
