Could there be a Knicks return of the newly banished Tim Thomas? Larry Brown has lamented the team doesn't have a legitimate starting small forward after Thomas was traded to Chicago in the Curry deal, and has used four different starters there. Yesterday, Bulls GM John Paxson said Thomas will stay away from the team and the Bulls will attempt to trade him. The Knicks' best chance of getting Thomas back is if the Bulls buy him out, but Chicago feels it can get value for him.

Paxson reportedly was asked yesterday if he had spoken to the Knicks about swapping Knicks forward Antonio Davis for Thomas. As both were part of the Curry trade, Paxson said league rules prohibit it. Both players have identical contracts worth over $14M that expire this summer, and the Knicks could live without Davis now that Channing Frye has emerged as a starter.

I really don't want him back but he is 6 10 and can hit a three every now and again.

I'd only take him back to get rid of some of our salary.
Take him back for JJ and MoT.

only way to get back tim is if they waive him and we pick him up after he clears waivers. we can not trade for him up to 1 year after the initial trade.

How about we re-sign Antonio to a six year max deal and Chicago re-signs TT to a six year max deal and then next season we trade the two players? It would have to work under the CBA. Then we get to keep TT for six years! I think I just had way too much caffeine!

Can he be traded back to the Knicks at all? Or is it just he can't be involved for a trade again for Antonio Davis in the same season? Because why wouldn't we trade him for Penny straight up, it works under the cap, if it's doable. Skiles has no use for him and worries he will be a malcontent influencing the young guys. Brown wouldn't worry about that and might be able to use him for this year and then get rid of him after the year is out.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Rules prohibit a trade, and besides The bulls can still get something for that expiring contract.

They can get the same thing for Penny's contract and be done with what they perceive is a headache in TT.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Even if we could take him back, it would never happen after what he said about the Knicks (not passing him the ball).

He lost all respect after that one.

league rules prohibit us from even resigning him this year.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

sounds like a plan.....take Timmy only if you are thinking of even more of a salary dump. 40 mill off the cap? lol.....Knicks would still be over the cap but Knicks would be closer to the dream of signing a big time player flat out, lol.

That's just funny to me but it why not try.
