Ok Guys, I think its time... Step into confession and voice your repentance for your sins agains this team and their top pick. I think we can safely say even if Channing doesn't keep up at this pace, the #8 pick in the draft is far from a bust. So come out now and ask for forgiveness. This is not for those of you who would have liked Bynum because he has potential. This is for thos posters who said Channing is a soft scrub who won't ammount to anything. Ask for repentance from the basketball god's and it shall be offered. I won't do it, but there are posters who will go back in the archives and start calling out names. So just come clean.

Forgiveness Is Yours.

playing much better than summer league.

i'll give it 3 hail maries
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I never said Channing was a "soft scrub", but I really did not trust him. It seems I was wrong.

Channing got the label soft long before he hit then nba. its hard to correlate because 95% of nba fans dont watch college basketball regularly and college fans dont watch nba, weird but true. I believe Channing Frye came into his own the second half of his senior year. If he had continued at the pace early in the season, Isiah Thomas would not have been promising him anything and Channing wouldve been picked somewhere late 1st early second. He came of age at the right time and earned his spot at pick 8 through tremendous offensive effeciency and great post season play for AZ. Its very hard to get a true 5, and even watching Bynum last night, you can see glimpses of what he will be able to do. We are seeing Channing is already a highly polished NBA caliber player who can be an all star 4 man. I dont think anyone lost there picks 8-9-10 Frye Bynum and Diogu will all be upper echlon players.

oooh! Briggs gives props to Ike. I loved Ike and he was my favorite at 8. Frye wasnt my first choice but I did watch some of those tourney games and he was simply awesome on both ends of the court.

what I didnt know about Channing and love is his attitude and demeanor. He's Don Mattingly in his approach. Humble, hard working, team oriented and talented.

Not necessary; we already know who had what position on Frye, who called him soft (most posters here), who didn't want him at 8 (most posters here), which poster called him a bust after the summer league, etc.

I said he's soft and nothing special. And I stand by that. He's a poor man's SAR. He's a nice piece and a safe one with the 8th pick but not a cornerstone of a franchise.

tough to call a player who's averaging almost 20 pts and 6 rebs a game over his last 5...just 12 games into his rookie season a poor man's sar and nothing special.

will he become dominant? who knows but it's a VERY encouraging sign. what's a cornerstone of a franchise? is ben wallace one b/c he averages less than 10 pts a game. how about chauncy billups b/c he averages about 6 assists a game? but i would say that both of them are cornerstone's of that pistons franchise.

anybody annointing him as the savior or anything like that is ludicrous at this point but to say he's nothing special is just the same as calling him duncan, just at the other end of the spectrum.

yeah thats probably true but why would you expect to get a tim duncan or kevin garnett (which is what I assume you mean by franchise cornerstone) with the 8th pick?

Cocaine is a helluva drug. Either you are looking for an argument or you can't see at all. If not for the play of super rookie Chris Paul everybody would say this dude will be ROY. I was never one of the people to talk bad about Frye I just hoped that Isiah knew what he was doing. I can't mislead any of you I wanted to get Gerald Green because I believe he has McGrady potential but, who's to say he'll ever live up to it. Frye is my guy today even if he wasn't on draft day. And one final thought Frye is better and will continue to be better then Bogut.

The perfect clarity of hindsight is a luxury most cannot afford.

If one can predict the next 70 games I sure would like to know.

I would just like to know who at this point in time is something special. Was it his 21 points or his 11 rebounds that validated this thought? And who behind him in the draft are the cornerstones of a franshise. A rookie in this city who opens up his NBA career the way he has and still gets "Knick's Fans" who say things like this.

Someone please explain to me the SOFT and NOTHING SPECIAL COMMENT. And how you still stand by it. I would love to hear it.

Remember guys: Isles played in the NBA for many years thats why he's able to forecast what a player will amount to in the future

Isles for goodness sakes dont you have any positivity in you, whenever your in a thread your so negative..no one said he's a franchise cornerstone, but you never know how he'll wind up in the future...

i just hope frye can improve his rebounding, and get stronger so he can use his post moves more, its true that he had 11 rebounds last game but Im not convinced that he can do that on a consistent basis.

this is where he gets the soft label from. he sits on the perimeter some games and just shoots jumpers and gets 0 rebounds at 6-11. We really do not need channing taking 10 jumpshots--more like 6-7 jump hooks/layups and 3 jump shots

I see the Amazing Kreskin still has not learned his lesson about extrapolating from single games. What will it take?
