What would you have done in Mil's position?
Draft Bogut
Trade the #1 pick for multiple later picks
Draft Frye
Draft Charlie V
Draft Deron Williams
Draft Paul
Draft Bynum
Draft Marvin Williams

I'd try to do a 3-team trade. I'd rather have any two (depending on what picks I could get) of the following players over Bogut: Paul, Charlie V, Frye, Bynum, Deron

I'd draft Bogut without a doubt.

I'd draft Frye without a second thought

Is Bogut gonna be that great that you'd rather have him than any TWO of the lottery picks listed above? I just don't see it.

Your poll says "later" picks and now you're saying "lottery picks". Which is it?

And is there any evidence that that option was on the table for the Bucks to pursue? Or is that just a way for you to diminish Bogut in your typically loaded question/poll?

Bogut is not that good

Lottery picks are later picks (they're later than #1). I find it hard to believe you couldn't get two mid to late lottery picks for the #1 pick in the draft, but no I don't have tape-recorded conversations with GMs indicating whether or not such possibilities were on the table. Maybe I should have put "Attempted to" in front of the trade option.

yes there is evidence, I believe Charlotte would have traded their 2 picks for the #1.

interestingly, I wonder if Zeke would have done the #8, #21, and #30 for #1 and maybe some filler.

And 2nd rd picks are also later picks (they're later than #1). So instead of being defensive why don't you clarify what you meant.

So basically your trade option is purely fictional and you just included it in your poll for some reason. You could have said "Attempted to" but that still means nothing. If you were going to do that you could have also put as an option in the poll that they should have "attempted to trade the pick for LeBron James". They could have but we all know that it wasn't going to happen.

Ok, where is the evidence that the Bucks rejected that proposed trade.

I DID clarify it. I indicated a mid and a late lottery pick. Even though I don't have tape-recorded conversations with GMs, I find it hard to believe you couldn't get a three team deal going OR trade with Charlotte for #s 5 and 13 OR trade with Toronto for #s 7 and 16 (okay technically 16 is 1 pick after the lottery rather than late lottery).
So basically your trade option is purely fictional
We discuss trade options on this message board all the time. They're ALWAYS fictional because none of us has tape-recorded conversations with GMs.

It depends on the deal of course. If it's for Charlotte #5-13, Id do it if I'm Mil, and hindsight being 20/20, take Frye at 5 and Granger at #13. If it's for the Knicks #8, #30 (or even 8-21) I'd probably draft and keep Bogut.

Can we wait 2 more years and then decide? Its all too much specultion.

Charlie V. is making good in Toronto after getting blasted by everyone!

Milwaukee is doing well not having to lean on its rookie. That is a smart thing. so you don't really see what Bogut is capable.

If I had the no.1 pick, you go with Bogut and not second guess yourself every 8 games.

Why? We're not reaching final evaluations of players; we're posting about what we would have tried to do on draft night as GMs. GMs don't get to re-do draft night after two years. Neither should we.

If I'm Mil I take Charlotte's 5 and 13. Could then take Frye or CV at 5 and play with 13

You probably could get BOTH Frye and CV at 5 and 13 respectively. NOBODY had CV going before #20 if the Raptors didn't take him.
If not, you could still draft Frye or CV at 5 and have your choice of Granger, Green, Graham at 13 or trade the 13 pick to move up as part of a 3 team deal. (You have HUGE leverage with the #1 pick.)

I don't think this is a wait two years thing. Even if Bogut explodes by then, I would rather have had 2 of the top talents in this past years loaded draft, than just 1.
If you had the #1 pick, do you draft Bogut?
