"I thought Steph was phenomenal," Brown said. "I loved the way he was being aggressive. I told people before the game he would play great."

''We don't have the luxury to take anybody lightly,'' New York's Quentin Richardson said. ''We're not that good.''

I can see the media headline now: "Brown's feud with Marbury intensifies"

"I loved the way he tried to get other people involved. I loved the way he tried to guard." It's always about trying, never, "Steph got others involved, Steph played great defense, Steph is a great point guard."

If you want to know who really impressed LB: "Tony Davis won the game tonight."

Ya Knight.

I noticed that too.

The "tried".

Sure, maybe we're reading too much into it, but I'm a pretty intelligent fan, and I see what I see.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

^You can't help but notice the hesitation in Larry's voice when it comes to complimenting Marbury and all the qualifications he makes.

That's because he expects waaay more out of Steph than those guys he easily slings compliments on. No matter how good Steph has played so far, until he gets to the level Larry espects out of Steph he's going to hesitate when giving him a lot of dap. It's as simple as that. Just like when he was in Philly he'd go on and on about the importance of Aaron McKie. We know what's up.

I am a Marbury & Larry Brown fan and I want to give this team a chance but Brown can say one thing and want to do another. He actually said Houston was the best player on our team last year and next thing you know he retires. He might say good things about a guy just before they are outed. Might not be a stretch if an article had a Marbury trade rumor.

The man gave Stephon a compliment that was well deserved. What's the big deal?

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Either we're reading too much into it, or you're just looking at the surface.

Which is it.....find out next time.....on MSG.

The "tried" is just an idiosyncratic way LB likes to talk, IMO. He's been talking about people "trying" to guard since he got here, and not just about Steph. Is it supposed to mean that they're trying but not getting it done? It might, but given the frequency with which he's used the phrase, it might just be something that's burned into his vocabulary that we shouldn't read too much into. It's tough to say one way or the other since I haven't heard a lot of LB speak until recently.

It could also be another way of referring to effort-- maybe "try to guard" for LB is the same as "playing D with effort." Certainly if he said the latter it would not be taken as a knock against the player.

We won the damn game, i don't give a **** if LB thought he tried or accomplished anything. We WON!!!

But let me also add that he made reference to those 2 3's Steph shot at the end of the game. I can imagine how he must be in practice because he doesn't let anything slide.

AD did win that game on D though. Zach was totally shut down the whole 2nd half, after busting our ass the whole first half. Without that, our firepower would have been no match for theirs.

Also in the postgame, Starks said he thinks that Craw will become an All-Star.`

I'm surprised you could even understand what Starks was saying I loved John Starks as a player but his speech is HORRIFIC.

Most likely a habit of speech. Also, the word "try" is very important to Brown. The word "loved" is just as worthy of emphasis.

We are all reading too much into this thing. Steph can get frustrated, and larry can be be upset with him and it can all end well for both!

The media is printing it and fans are just eating it up.

TRIED? WTF? Marbs played a great game and even when you attempt (aka: TRIED) to do the right thing and it don't work, that don't mean you played bad.

I Enjoyed the game. Damm 11 points! Messed up my game picker by a point!
