so lb plays craw at the point during preseason and he did very well there.
he then benches him the first game, surprising everyone.
then he starts craw and splits duty with him at the point and our offense runs smoothly.
then he starts moving craw to more of a sg role and he excels.
when craw does run the point, he does well, as the ball moves around.
he says craw was playing out of position at the SG.
now he says he doesn't have a PG.

so what the hell is going on here?

were the comments to steph, just really directed to him and not craw, q, and nate? were they just collateral damage? or does lb not have any confidence in them either?

total headscratcher...i guess we just have to sit back and watch this unfold.

my stance from day 1 was to put craw at the starting PG spot and move steph to the 2. the few times we did that...it looked good.

I think LB still views Jamal is inadequate in playing the point. He wants a physical PG. He mentioned that we do not have Snow, Hughes or McKie. Those 3 doesn't exactly remind me of Jamal.

jamal has looked great on offense playing off the ball. i'd read into it more as, jaamal has responded to the coaching and has been taking it to the basket or mid range instead of jacking 3s.

Larry did just diss Jamal publicly, but I think he's using the press to challenge his guys. No matter what kind of spin the media puts on it. This is the same tactic's he used in Detorit and other places. He knows these guys read the paper. Hopefully they respond by playing harder to prove him wrong and don't retreat into shells and hurt the team.

Crawford at PG for small stretches, maybe. But if you put him there long term he'll just be completely exposed. He's not a true PG especially not in the mold that LB wants.

Exactly. I think he is just challenging the guys to step up their level of play. Especially Steph. He ought to challenge Steph and Steph ought to respond, ON THE COURT!!!!

Steph can play LB's way and still score. LB said he wants him to take between 15 and 20 good shots a game. He can do it, he is just frustrated with playing not so well and losing.

Craw can never be a fulltime pg, that idea has always been ludicrous to me.

What I was predicting on my former board was that Steph would probably start the season at point but by the latter part of the season it would be Jamal. Reason being that I think Jamal's offense has better flow and tempo and he possesses better court vision and creativity, BUT, he's got far fewer seasons at the position than Steph and is thus far less polished.

IOW, he's still poised for confusion and turnovers, but as he polishes his game he should be able to surpass Steph.

But in the larger picture, this was designed to be a combo guard offense, often in a three guard alignment. Both guys need to work themselves into shape to play both positions alternatively and sometimes simultaneously. Otherwise what's the point of all these tweeners?

Good post Blue...Crawford is def the PG of the future. And after this year, I'm pretty positive either marbs will be moved, either out of town or to the 2.

I still think of marbs as a PG, and if everybody looked at crawford's salary, he's not making starter money for another year or so, so for now, start him ahead of Q, move Q to the 3, bring reezy off the bench, and start curry/frye. Or keep using AD to keep frye's spot warm.

But to think that crawford can play the point now and marbs can switch to the 2 now is asking a bit much.

Which is exactly LB's style.
all kool aid all the time.
so where does this leave craw?
