knicks trade: penny
wolves trade: trenton hassel and wally

works under the cap and we get our pure shooter who closely resembles houston, and we get a great perimeter defender, someone we've been looking for in ruben patterson. our SF empty hole will now be filled and hassel can be a huge upgrade whenever we have a gaurd torching us.

wally has a pretty bad deal and he's one dimensional. penny should be saved for a firesale or expire. not for these 2 duds.

I could see the T'Wolves doing this just because I think that current team has run its course. They need to go in a new direction and I could definately see the T'Wolves wanting to open up a spot in the starting lineup for McCants. It would actually help the Knicks out quite a bit. We needs Wallys consistent shooting terribly, yes I know the contract stinks but he's what we need in a shooter.
1. we get a lights out shooter in Wally
2. we add a excellent perimeter defender in Hassel
3. it frees up the option to trade Jamal or Q

I'd definately sign off on this if it were to come available.

ok but most of our bad contracts are for overpaid players with long yrs ahead of them. so explain to me how we move those?

Even if they can't be moved, I would rather not take on anymore. I guess the question becomes: is Isiah the only GM (now that Layden is gone) in the NBA who is willing to trade for bad contracts?

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Its not as horrible as people here are making it, but I think it is definitely the kind of move we should pass on. How much betterdoes this really make us?

And for how much more salary?

Our expiring deals should get us a better player. If we are gonna get an overpaid player, I'd want that guy to be really really good. Not just a one dimensional spot player who is aalso a defensive liability.

Defense and rebounding are what we need.

I think a better fit is Malik Rose for Troy hudson would be a better fit, IMO. Wally and Q on the same team are very dangerous both to opponents and to us.

The only trade we do with the T-wolves is to get KG, and that would most likely never happen.
Even though On NBA live 2006, I traded KG and 1st round pick for Q, Taylor and Ariza.

I don't know if getting KG gets us a championship.

When the wolves got to the conf finals, they had more firepower than we would with that trade. plus, they were clicking on all cylinders-

not a bad trade- I don't mind getting wally, though I might want to try to move Mo T or Rose in the deal to at least make it so its not a complete dump on their part.

I don't think I would do that trade. It's totally mortgaging the future and Garnett, as someone mentioned, may very well have seen the prime of his prime, during his MVP year. That lineup is extremely extremely shallow btw, and there is NO WAY we win a championship with it. We wouldn't be able to do anymore trades either. Plus KG has felt his share of injuries at this point.

I would much rather see the progress of Frye, Curry, Ariza and Nate Rob anyway. It's time to develop our own stars for the first time in forever.

Sam cassell wasn't healthy, if he was they would have gone to the finals. I have no doubt about that in my mind.
