I see nothing good here besides effort. yes the dude definately gives it his all and runs around the court like he just snorted a big line of blow, but is Nate Robinson really that good? The hype has definately settled down since the season started, but there is still some buzz surrounding Nate and I am wondering for what reason?? He CANT shoot the ball. He was supposedly a good defender yet I have not seen him make 1 steal yet this season. The only couple good plays I have seen him make this year is when he drives to the hoop and makes some crazy looking layup (which mostly I think is due to luck), but otherwise he plays like an erratic mess. He NEEDS to stop driving to the hoop into a bunch of guys that are over a foot taller than him. He needs to stop running around the court like a hamster and concentrate.
I know he is rookie, and I def believe he has a chance to be a pretty good player.....but I don't know why there was such an incredible amount of hype with this guy before anyone actually saw him play consistently. so far our other two rookies stats are killing his
The Knicks are beat street but there's finally hope in the air!

Rookie. 5'7" (so he can untie other players shoes when they aren't looking). Fast. Massive vertical. Plays like a cornerback. As strong as many PF's. Eager. Has more energy than Spree did in his prime. He's still got a lot to learn.

here's the deal...nate is a rookie...and playing like one. not everyone can come right in and make a smooth transition. if his role was to play defense and play off the ball, then he wouldn't be having that tough a time (like with lee). but if you're putting the ball in his hands and ask him to play the point, then you're going to get rookie mistakes.

Another thought: Starks made a ton of bad plays, missed big shots almost as often as he made them, and came within making one shot to win us a title. New York loved him. Nate will do fine.

its going to take nate time to develop a more effective jumper and learn the nba game. he gets seperation at will, and he used that seperation to connect on some nice passes--but he has not adjusted yet to the fact that he cannot go into the lane against guys more than a foot taller and think he will get a good shot. he has to be smart and at times he has shown it, at other times he is way way way out of control
this is a guy who did dominate in the SL, was a tremendously effective college player--he needs an adjustment period. obviously the two main things with nate is work on the 16 footer and using better thought porcess

just curious Briggs...who would you have drafted Nate, a scoring backup PG for 10mins a game or Chris Taft at the PF/C position where we could use help with Curry's foul trouble and than pick up a backup uptempo PG for 10mins?

Nate would do better if he didn't have to think about a pain in the butt coach like Larry Brown. Maybe he'd even start on 1/3 of the teams in the NBA.
The player we've seen in the NBA is not even close to the dominant player we saw in the summer leagues-- he doesn't seem to be playing w/ the same ****iness/confidence.

Maybe it's because the Summer League and the NBA are a little different and just because you can play well in the former doesn't mean you can do squat in the latter.

Nate will be OK; it's just all the folks that expect him to deliver miracles less than 10 games in a season that I'm worried about.
Then again, the paranoia and doomsday talk from the usual suspects gives us more than enough to laugh at!
By "miracles" you mean not turning the ball over every other possession, being able to hit a shot outside of 15 feet and not coughing the ball up everytime he drives to the basket?

Do any of you all even play the game of basketball? The majority of the ball players I know and have played against do not just jump into better competition and play well. Of course their are some exceptions to the rule, but in most cases a player especially a young player has a lot to assimilate in a short amount of time. And this is without playing the point guard position for the "Great Larry Brown" or being the shortest person on your team. Did Tracy McGrady set the world on fire his rookie season? What about Kobe Bryant? Ok let's give our rookie sometime he's been in the NBA for all of two weeks. He's never played against players as big and quick as these pros and dammit he's little. Nate will still be great. Isiah rarely makes mistakes in the draft.
