Interesting. I remember when Isiah was interested in bringing him in this summer, most people on this board were extremely against signing him since he was "washed up."

It is too bad, but by the same token, I don't think anyone really saw this coming. Just imagine if we did sign Diop, you'd never have heard the end of it from the press and the fans.

I wanted Diop, he was 7 feet, young and worth a shot for very little money. But hey, what do i know?

Diop compared to JJ I think would of come a lot cheaper... I hate we didn't get him over JJ..

I think the consensus was split down the middle. I was for signing Diop. I don't now if this performance will just be an abberation for Diop, but his potential is there. He is a monster, the guy has arms that are freakily long (As does Luol Deng), and he is not completely unathletic. Dallas has enough guys who can shoot. I think Diop might displace Dampier. Maybe not during this season, but if Diop does his thing Dampier will be history by next season.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I know I didn't want him but was willing to take him cuz he was still young......I had no idea he lost all that weight!!! He is cut now compared to that grizzly bear look he was sporting in Cleveland.

I'm impressed.....he looks like Mutumbo out there. Dirk was loving it and was fired up about him after that huge play. Poor Dampier is in the same Fugazy boat as Timmy.

i'll manup - i wanted Diop! i thought he was going to be very good at some point. He came into the L the same year as curry. But we needed a starting Center. Seattle misses Big Game... Trade him home?

Reading things like this really makes you wonder how zeke has a job, they sign this kid for under two million, the hawks get Paculia for the same both have much more potential than JJ who may be the worst player in basketball. I would even rather have Mutumbo than James, what a waste

when you see stats like this, you usually see the team the player is playing for win. marcus cmaby has had a few of these this year--and even without nene and kmart, the nuggets have won games. why, because when a guy starts to block 5-6-7 shots, he also alters the same number and the high rebounding total, means the other team cant get into the lane and cant get second chance points. other guys can score the points--thats why i wanted bynum, because i felt at 7-3 with his long arms that one day hed be able to shut of offensive lanes and control the boards easily, he might not be quite as lightfooted as Diop after his weight loss, that remains to be seen, but Bynum also has a fundamental offensive skill et, where he will be able to score and pass the ball. But as far as Diop goes, they have to think the sky is the limit here. hes ben coming on with this, showing signs, and that they would push him into the SL

It's great that Diop is playing so well. Remember though, Isiah didn't just entertain signing Diop, he actually brought him in for a workout. So, for some reason, Isiah must have been unimpressed.

Perhaps it was just too risky a move to make considering at the time, we had NO ONE over 6'10 and James had at least won a playoff series, whereas Diop had done nothing but be a bust.

you win some, and you lose some.

yeah there are a few of us that saw it comming

I for 1 has been raving about him since on espn when he was with the cavs, his early problems was that he would try to block every shot that went up and in so he would get into foul trouble, ya know the rookie treatment, and he had a minor injury, and to add to that there was a stretch where they didn't play him and he became out of shape.

I was really hoping that we could sign him and James Jones, but we missed out. the mavs have to decent defensive players now

From what I understand IT worked out Diop and evn offered him a contract, but Diop didn't think he would get much playing time with the Knicks having James, Frye abd Butler then pursuing Curry.
With Dallas I am sure they said he would get more playing time and Diop decided that was where he wanted to be.
