Steph was a great floor leader last night. Outside of the missed free throws he hustled his ass off, made shots when we were staggering(Crawford too) played solid D and most importantly did not turn the ball over. Steph is normally one of the contributors to the messs when our offense is struggling. Last night he really did a good job directing. Some great passes to Crawford.

The only thing that I ask is that when he is getting pressed in the backcourt he needs to stop panicking and protect the ball like "the best PG in the league"

yea i agree with you about steph last night. plus one other thing i liked - he took the ball hard to the hole and scored when we needed it. he wasn't being 'stubborn' and adopting a pass-only approach to overdo it. he was truly balanced.

ZERO turnovers in 2 of the last 3 games.

steph has been a ROCK out there. THE play of the season so far was steph DIVING for the ball to prevent a turnover in sacramento. if he did that at the garden, the place would explode.

you can still discuss what's best for the future of the franchise but as of right now, steph has been playing VERY well out there considering brown is starting him with no true 2nd ball handler. and the most impressive thing is his committment to defense...VERY impressive.

we have GOT to sit him down some. he's playing WAY TOO MANY minutes so early in the season, and much more demanding on his body than last year as he's doing it on both ends.

i think that 2nd half in portland was like steph's lowest point as a knick...and something just clicked in him.

Rick Kamla kept knocking Steph because his scoring and assists were down. I don't get it. When he puts up great #s, he's just "playing for stats" rather than to help his team. When he plays hard on D and does all the little things, "his career is declining rapidly because he's no longer putting up 20/8"

rick kamla is talking PURELY from a fantasy bball perspective. it has nothing to do with actual bball and winning.

Yeah, but he usually puts a disclaimer and would say something like, "Steph's playing great and helping NY even though it stinks from a fantasy perspective." I've heard him make that kind of comment many times. I remember him saying (paraphrased) "Rip Hamilton is a great player who helps his team win but is not a top fantasy player."

Also, like i had said in a previous thread, he's becoming the leader we never saw..

he's playing the game the way it should be played especially getting all his teammates all involved...

hopefully this isn't a temporary thing.. Hopefully he continues to improve in all facets of his game, particularly on defense..

The Future. GO KNICKS!

Steph's a warrior. We're lucky to have him. He's had to change his game significantly to get on the same page with LB. It's taken some time, but he appears to be getting it.

The dude is playing defense. I always thought Steph was a decent defensive player if he wanted to be. Looks like he is trying. I agree with all on this thread. Steph has been and can turn into the leader.

Everyone is always so quick to pass judgement on people especially in this market, but we all know that. I defended Steph throughout the first 5 games becuase I just wanted him to have a chance to play under Larry since Marbury is a extraordinary talent and Larry is extraordinary coach. If he had continued to play like he was playing the first 3 games then I would have been with all those screaming for his head... Instead he's shown that he can be the guy Larry wants him to be.. all he needed was a CHANCE.

Yeah it's kind of cool to see him and Jamal actually get into a defensive stance and try to deny penetration. They both still lose concentration from time to time but there is an obvious change in both their attitudes in terms of defense and just overall hustle. That dive on the floor that dysuny mentioned is something I've never seen from Steph. I think LB and Nate are wearing off on him.

Marbury is playing very impressively but Crawford is just as impressive. They are both completely different ball players from a year ago. I never really bought the "Steph only plays for stats" misconception, b/c it's clear when he's out there that he's trying to win. But now he's playing defense and appears to be sacrificing his stats for the good of the team. Last year he didn't really have that option. So kudos to Steph.

A note about Nate by the way (Now that the Bip Brings him up) he also freaking hustles his ars off, but the kid has a HEEEEEEEEELL of a lot to learn.

Yeah after watching Nate for the past month I've come to call him an idiot. But he's such a lovable idiot. You just can't stay mad at him.

young point guards are slow learners. When you go from being the man in college too having plenty of talent around you in the pros than it takes time to adjust. Just wait Nate still has a chance of being great.

It's a tough thing to learn. Seeing the floor and getting the ball to the right person is more instinctual than you think.

Not just for point guards. Just look at Curry. It's about knowing your position as well and knowing exactly where you are and where your teammates are and where the defenders are and what people are doing. When nobody is doubling and you can just go one on one, it's hard enough. But then you are being doubled and so much is going on, it's hard to pick things up.
