It appears to me that this and every other forum and the posters believe that there is more and better basketball knowledge within the forum than on the payroll of their favorite team.

I honestly don't believe I know more about basketball than IT or LB. I cannot coach as well as LB or judge talent like IT. Rather than saying LB should be playing Frye, Lee, Nate, Butler or Reezy-we should be asking why is he playing Rose, AD or Barnes.

LB is building his rotation by seeing how the pieces fit at different times in different situations. He is learning who reacts how and when. I like what I see but may not always agree with what he does but his track record deserves the benefit of the doubt.

well personally i like to hear a wide range of reactions, including those that "think they know better" - don't we all!

some of the best interchanges on this board come when people disagree on a decision or direction and back it up with game references, stats, history, etc. there are guys watching tapes of games 5 times to nail a detail! there are guys scouring the web for statistical breakdowns and trends! then there are guys (and we know who we are ) just shooting from the hip. and there are the larry and isiah can do wrongs, and the can do no rights. we got it all! viva les differences!

Everyone one is entitled to an opinion but what seems to be coming forth are opinions stated as facts and absolutes rather than analyses as to why. Briggs, for example, appears to be a dedicated young bright bb fan who does his homework but does he think that IT and his well paid minions scouring the hinterlands have overlooked the players he has discovered? I'd like to see more why? rather than shoulda.

It appears to me that since Holzman we have had only 2 coaches who didn't suck up to the players, both considered great coaches-one who succeeded (Riley) and one who didn't (he wound up in Dallas and did ok). Nelson's problem was he had a player who was bigger than he in Ewing and didn't get the same respect from Patrick that Riley did. Even JVG who was successful was beholden to his players.

Now we again have a coach who is bigger than the team (and the GM), has the mentality and the track record, will get the respect and attention from his players and hopefully lead us back to the promised land.

I agree with this 100%. I also think one of the problems with NY is that we have not allowed our coaches the chance to become bigger than the team. REmember JVG was a shot away from being fired. WE get a new coach and unless they are Reilly we shoot them down and undermine them the moment they start. The media, fans and the organization all take a part in this. Lenny Wilkens had no chance to succeed here. Unfortunately you aren't always going to have a Riley as a coach.
I just hope that people will like me

Since when did Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas become hands off?

What - they don't make mistakes?

Please...

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

this is a message board dude, relax. those guys get paid 8-10 mm$ a year to do their jobs and they do them well. we all pay 40 bucks a month for the right just to get on to the internet to say our jibber, big difference! however, that doesnt mean there arent some highly knowledgable fans! those guys know who rajon rondo--well isiah knows who he is-- i know who he is, but most guys here probably think its a dish from an indian restuarant!
how about vernon macklin? wayne ellington julian wright? jason smith? oj mayo billy walker? ok --

Those guys also know that if ESPN happened to leave a feature of the CBA out of an article then that feature must really not exist, and if some media scrub says trade X was available to happen then it really was, and that we can predict how a young player's entire career will turn out judging by their performance in summer league or a preseason game. Knicks fans know!
