Trevor Ariza would be high on my list. My belief is at this pace, someone is going to come in at 5 yrs 37.5mm$ or so. If I was Trevor, I would go out and get a maximum insurance policy, even if it cost me half of this years contract to purchase.

Thomas was very stupid for not extending Ariza and signing James for the full MLE instead. Good job Isiah.

hey, Briggs, guess what, that rule that you said wasn't in the new CBA IS in the new CBA. The Knicks can match any offer. it's called the Arenas rule.

but...I know this is just your way of saying you're happy how T-rex has played.

yeah, they had like 10-15 stipulations that werent initially addressed

or forwarded to the public. basically, we can match any offer if we have the MLE

they cant trade him for a month, so they have 1-2 months to get him down to 275 and back on the court with some success. right now i count him as 0.

You realize that any stupidity for not locking up Ariza is smaller than the intelligence of merely drafting Ariza in the 40s? Of course it would be better if he were locked up already, but we can match a max contract this summer! If you're worried about keeping Ariza, you're probably a very high worrier.

Yup; we shouldn't have any trouble re-signing him for the league min or LLE at most.

The point of this should be don't judge the future from what's obvious at the present. Maybe Reezy stars by the end of this season and we're back to where this thead started.

I think that was very fair sentiment that Trevor Ariza at certain points was a very viable candidate for a full mLE--if not by the Knicks than some other team. Hes 20 years old and has the attributes to be a tremendous NBA defender--a new age Bruce Bowne type. The problem is he did fall off the table.. Thats why it is nice to have 2-3 years to evaluate a player before making a long term decision.
I don't believe Trevor will be in the long term plans of the Knicks. I think they may move him to a team where he can get some burn, maybe for a 2nd rounder or in a package.

Now how will this occur???? There isn't a team in the league that would take that bum. Herb Williams could probably suit up and give us better minutes.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

Yet he found a way to a 14-28 record.

ok, but that has nothing to do with the topic of being able to move JJ.

IT will prolly find a way to move JJ in a year or two, but if you are expecting anything that will make you happy in return, you are kiddin yourself. What he will get is prolly somebody with an even longer and bigger deal while marginally improving the talent level, and giving up a draft pick or two in the process. Aka, the Mo Taylor deal. Except the guy he will get will be a lot worse then Mo Taylor because it is much harder to move JJ then Vin Baker.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
