In today's Star Ledger D'Alessandro makes a good point that LB has too much to say and should just coach his team. Also, part of the reason nobody plays with any confidence is that LB has none in anyone, including Steph. He knew what he was getting when he took the money. So stop acting like you are above it all Larry, and get busy already.

Yeah, that makes sense, LB hasn't shown much confidence in any of the players since he hasn't been able to come up with a starting lineup and from the comments he makes to the newspapers on a daily basis, no wonder the guys are sulking and pouting all the time.

LB just coach the team and stop acting like an old lady, let the kids play and have fun!!!

There is a way to properly phuch with peoples heads and he is doing it in part thru the media. Its a balance and he is not ready to take blame YET. He has in the past, but right now the guys are not getting it done and its ok to humiliate these ego maniacs until they get it right. Once they do, he will shower them with postive reinforcement!

5 games in, media got write somthing. I like D'anessandro, he is one of the betterones. But he still got papers to sell!

I don't know, I like to hear from coach and the players--we like to know what's going on and why certain decisions are being made. There is no way around it. LB is not going to lie and say he thinks players are great just because some homers want to hear it--the truth hurts sometimes.

but your not hearing from the players, only LB. The players are scared to death of him, which is part of the problem.

It can, but they've got to get settled into Larry's new system first.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I hope Brown hears some boos when the Knicks return to MSG. Maybe then he'll stop making excuses and try to phuching concentrate on doing his job.

He shouldn't need to hear boos in order to focus on his job. I want him to hear some CHEERS as this team WINS.

The thing I don't get is. Q is averaging 6.8pts per game on 33% shooting, but yet I don't here anything from Brown saying Q needs to step up. Channing Frye & David Lee have more pts and rebounds than Davis, Rose, Taylor and make bigger impacts then them but they continue to get less mins.

Why would he want to lay a foudation with Davis, Rose, Taylor when Frye, Lee, Butler are the future?? And have been played better than them all preseason and regular season.

Lol.

It's more like Q needs to get TRADED.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

This is too funny.

Apparently this is Brown's fault. Makes perfect sense. Forget that he has won EVERYWHERE he went before, and maybe just maybe IT and his teams simply blows. But now, this is Brown's fault, and we should all hate him for running out lovable loosers out of town.

Please, if Brown wansts IT and Marbury gone, I'm willing to bet that thats for the better of the Knicks. Not like IT or Marbury have anything anywhere before as a player and gm.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I forgot about Q, so, last year our starters all averaged more than 15 a game.
Q 14.9, marbs 21, craw 17 and curry 16.1.
the last game was more like the knicks...if Q can shed is Tim thomas impersonation (though he is still getting 5 boards a game) then we may be onto something...

It's obvious LB is not letting the players be players.

Hopefully that changes tonight.

Great post newyorknewyork...You hit the nail on the head.

Brown has won lots of places, but he usually gets forced to leave after an ugly power struggle. It's not like this is something new. If he doesn't get his way, he will make things hard on his GM. I think it's pretty clear he's trying to get Isiah fired.

Good read for those that didn't click the link:

quote]
The advice should start like this: Shut up and coach your team.

Thomas is still the boss, at least for now, so he reserves the right to be candid and blunt about what he has seen so far. He should say this: There's little that can be done with this roster, that's my fault, but you knew what you signed up for, so start making some lemonade. Nobody cares if Jerome James is a $30 million houseplant anymore. Nobody cares if Quentin Richardson collects dust. I don't like them much either. My bad. Nobody cares if you play the kids over the veterans. But you better start giving all of them the direction you're paid handsomely to provide.

Restore Stephon Marbury's confidence, because that alarming deficiency is your fault, and start recognizing that anyone with $56 million left on their contract is untradeable in the current market. Stop yo-yo-ing Jamal Crawford, and Eddy Curry, and Matt Barnes, and everybody else, for that matter. Settle on a rotation and a system and a message. Be consistent with all of it, because all you're doing now is confusing the hell out of everybody, and sending tacit messages that you hate every last one of them, which is not exactly the best way to develop fortitude. Finally, stop taking shots at the roster, which may be substandard, but it cannot change overnight, despite what I promised you back in July.

Brown has gotten us to rebound better, play better team ball, and have more focus on defense. But he hasn't been perfect either.

Just like Marbury has been playing better defense and looking to pass a lot more after he penitrates. But he hasn't been perfect either.

There is no reason to single one person out. Im saying everyone needs to step up to the levels they are cappable. And Brown needs to recognize guys like Frye & Lee who clearly make a huge impact and are also the future of the team and the fast they get going the better the future will be.

Personally, I have faith in Larry Brown, and I think a lot of this stuff is just media induced for entertainment value. I really believe what we're experiencing are growing pains. Sooner or later, we're going to start seeing the benefits.

Until then - and I know it's a cliche around here - we're going to have to be patient.

Asj yourself for a minute, would Herb Williams be 0-5 with this team?

Maybe not. Maybe Don Chaney would have had a win too, but that doesn't tell me who the better coach is. Now, if we get to the end of the season and the knicks have 30 wins or something, you can tell me what an idiot I am.
