It's interesting that KG still won't talk to Steph. We might as well kill that KG/Steph reunion talk.

yeah the show def had some nice insight into the steph/kg thing. I feel like they're at the point where they could probably make up and talk to each other in a mature way now. It truly is a maturation process from 18 to 30... When you come into the league at 18 or 19, you truly know nothing, and I think that point is emphasized over and over again if you look at some of the young stars of the game. To give a current example, Josh Smith, for all of his dunking prowess, is reportedly a bad teammate and is sulking around this year.
But man... steph/kg would've been so awesome. Imagine if they stayed together, and they were still on the same team to this date? They would've made each other so much better..

I thought it was a good interview with Steph. If I had to criticize anything it would be that he hypes himself up so much and really doesn't have the resume to back it up--and has a ton of reasons why his teams haven't done well and never faults himself.

What do you think it's like to coach a player who already thinks he's the best?

Probably a lot better than coaching an unconfident player

^Do you think veterans who are no longer the best aren't confident?

Just got it... Goog looking out, teslawlo!

It was a great interview.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Depends on the player and their situation. Any all-star or near all-star should think he's the best. Bibby, Billups, Marbury, Nash, etc. should have the confidence to *think* they're the best. If you're talking about a vet playing for the league min., that's an entirely different story

You missed the point: just because you realize there may be players better than you, more talented than you, doesn't mean that you don't have confidence in your game.

I always thought that the people who made something out of the Marbury quote were idiots. If Marbury didn't think he was the best, it wouldn't be sport. Sports are about beating someone else. To do that you have to think you are the best. Steph got burned for being honest. What's he supposed to say, "oh, there are so many talented players in this league, I'm just happy to be here"??? I don't a PG who's happy to be here. Ewing thought he was the best too. Sure, he was wrong sometimes, but how much success would he have had if he felt otherwise?

You can have success without thinking YOU are the best...how about thinking that you are part of the best TEAM... Marbury doesn't get it.

I'll buy that. But tell me Iverson doesn't think he's the best. Or Wade. Or Bron. Or Kobe. Or Tmac. Or Francis. Now clearly, all of the guys can't actually be the best, but to be the kind of stars they are and command the respect/fear of their teammates, they have to carry themselves that way. That's how you lead, that's how you win.

It's one thing to think it, another thing to announce it to the world--I've never heard a basketball player announce that he is the best like Marbury has--everyone knows talk is cheap and you PROVE you are the best on the court.

Basketball is a team sport, there is really no place for individual thinking and bravado, it's all about the team, playing like a team and winning as a team. To be the best you have to make your team the best, it means nothing to be the best when you can't make your team the best.
I really hope LB can make Marbury understand these things so this team can become the best with Steph as it's leader on the court, but Steph has to think as a team not as an individual.
