if we let penny and AD expire, we save $30 mil on the cap and $30 mil in luxury tax.

and DON'T FORGET that h20 comes off as well, so that's another $20 on the cap and $20 in tax.

so if we DO NOTHING with them, we save $50 mil in cap and $50 mil in tax.

$100 MILLION IN SAVINGS B/C OF THREE PLAYERS!!!!

so our cap figure next year would be down to $80 mil if we don't move penny & ad and the cap is in sight.

IF IF IF we can move marbury for jalen rose or eddie jones, we are UNDER the cap in 07.

We won't get under the cap and Isiah sees those contracts as assets for future trades anyway. This discussion is pointless. We will never get 15-20mil under the cap in order to get a shot at a superstar.

Assuming we don't take on any extra payroll (which won't happen) and we have a payroll of $80MM next year that's still $30MM over the cap. How is that in sight?

Maybe if we planned to get under the cap in 07 from the beginning of Isiah's Reign of Error, while drafting and developing our much higher lottery picks then maybe we'd be looking at a team with much greater potential. It's too bad we didn't do that like some people suggested.

Meanwhile we are still paying for JYD and Shandon Anderson, We also need to resign Ariza and possibly Butler.

The Cap is never really going to be insight for this team, if Dolan and IT have anything to do with it. So don't get your hopes up on getting any where near it anytime in the near or distant future.

we're at $66 MM next year with no more moves, I remember reading from one thread. Trading Marbury for Rose brings us under the cap by '07, but not far enough to do any damage. We'd have to trade Malik for a shorter contract as well, to really do some damage.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

We will be under the cap by '07, I assume, b/c we'll let Mo T expire, as well as H20, Davis and Penny. That's a whole crap load of money. Boy, that Jerome James signing looks worse and worse every day doesn't it?

You guys are assuming that we don't add another dollar to the payroll until 07 while we let all these contracts expire. How realistic is that?
