Marbury's our only PG. We'd be screwed without him if we took Rip. I don't think the Pistons would be looking to do a Rip/Marbury trade anyway. Where did this idea come from?

I'll take Stephon. Brooklyn Rules, every day, all day.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

On this team, Steph because no one else can handle the point.

BJ Armstrong can handle the ball. There is a reason why Rip won an NCAA championship, 2 HS championship and nearly 2 nBA champiionships and why steph has barely touched the playoffs in 10 years.

Rip. We're going to get a serviceable point guard anyway, even if Steph stays on the team.

Rip...

Are there rumors of this happening or is this just speculation?

I like Steph, but I think we could do better.

No, just throwing it out there. I just wanted to see the sentiment placed on a winner vs a stat player.

Rip does things Marbury could never dream of. Rip is basically the best midrange shooter in the game and the best at taking his man through screens since Reggie was in his prime. They're different players. It's easy to call rip a winner, but it's easy to win when you're playing with Sheed, Big Ben, Chauncey and Tayshun and playing at one of the best college programs in the country.

Rip is very good at what he does, so is Marbury. It'd be nice if Brown would put Marbury in a position to succeed instead of throwing him to the sharks with Malik Rose and AD...

who was the best player on that ct team--rip--only other nba player was jake voshkul--a marginal talent--they went 34-2 and the two games they lost was when rip was injured. they beat a duke team in the final that had 5 first round picks and a number 1 pick overall elton brand correy maggette shane battier, trajan langdon, will avery

you're right a different type of player, but rip is a particular piece that is hard to come by--thats why he won everywhere he went.

I would slightly take Rip over Marbury, b/c the type of game Rip has is just too unusual these days, but ever so invalueable. He spell a healthy Allan Houston we pretty much need badly now, and he can hit just about anything, anywhere in the clutch situations. Nobody, including Marbury, are proveen clutch on the Knicks. If Jamal gets it right, then a Rip and Jamal backcourt would be outstanding. Maybe not as good as Chauncey, but still really good.

There's actually four reasons: 1) Ben Wallace, 2) Tayshawn Prince, 3) Chauncey Billups, and 4) Rasheed Wallace!

Yeah, and they wouldn't have won it w/o Rip either and his clutch shooting BTW. Rip was lights out against the Lakers the year they won it all. This isn't a Marbury knock, but Marbury has never carried a team like that during crucial moments. Marbury can be made up for. We have the talent and we can always get more. There are about 6 players in the league with Rips skills. 2 of them just retired. The others are almost as untradable as Rip, including Martell Webster.

forget about championships and the sort.

for this team, right now, i take rip over marbury b/c we have no type of jumpshooting but we do have a potential pg in craw waiting in the wings. rip is a better fit for us regardless of who the better player is.

Rip is a good player but like Bonn said he's also playing with a bunch of other really good players. This stuff about him winning in college with no one else on the team is overated. Why? Well lets take a look at some of the records his teams have had before Detroit got Rasheed and won.
2000-01 Wizards - 29-53
2001-02 Wizards - 19-63
2002-03 Wizards - 37-45 (bare in mind Michael Jordan was on the team

Obviously from there he went onto the Pistons and a perenial 50Win team but to say that he's the reason teams win is ridiculous becuase just look at the Wizards.
