Guard talks point to deal

Isiah Thomas, who never needs a reason to make a trade, may have more incentive than ever to shake up his team.

After three games - all losses - it is clear that Larry Brown is not enamored with the Knicks' point guard situation.

"Look at our roster," Brown said yesterday. "We're not real deep in the backcourt right now."

Doing something about it, however, is no easy task. Most teams are reluctant to make significant changes this early, so it could take another month before any trades are made.

The Denver Nuggets are looking for front-court help with Nene out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. The Knicks gladly would trade Malik Rose or Maurice Taylor, but the contracts of both veterans are deemed undesirable.

The Nuggets could emerge as trading partner for several reasons; they have three point guards on their roster - Andre Miller, Earl Boykins and Earl Watson - and Watson is the odd man out thus far. On Sunday, Watson told the Denver Post that he's in a "challenging situation," but that he would not complain over his lack of playing time.

For now, Brown and Thomas are working to convert Nate Robinson, a shooting guard in college, into more of a point guard.

Who would we have to give up? And is there any chance to get Andre Miller? I doubt they would trade Miller unless we offered a real enticing package of young guys and/or expiring contracts. Watson seems like the best fit for Larry Brown's system. Would we want NENE? How about something like Crawford and Lee for Watson and nene?

Yes, but Crawfford has to be traded....We don't need Crawfford, especially if that kid is on the roster.

as i saw on realgm, they are showing Watson for Rose or Taylor

that would be a decent trade for us, either one, albeit we'd have to get fillers to make t match up, but Watson would be decent. But i don't really see us trading straight up with denver unless they falter and are in need for frontcourt help

I don't want Miller. He in my mind is a good player, but overvalued. Earl is a solid player that we hopefully wouldn't have to give up alot for.

If it were Watson for Mot T or Malik or Jerome James I'd do it.

I want Crawfford out....we have to retain James at least until midseason, because I still believe that he can contribute some when he is ready. Mo or Rose are taking minutes away from our youngins, so they both have to go. Mo and Crawf or Crawf and Rose for Waston and a couple of draft picks...

I doubt that Isiah would give up Crawford yet. But let's say we send him for Watson. What would our line up look like?

Marbury/Watson
Q/Nate
Ariza/Barnes
Frye/Lee/Taylor
Curry/Butler/JJ

Or would Watson start at the PG????????

I think that Marb would still start at PG, but Watson would play a considerable amount of minutes, especially when Marb is playing off the ball. Crawff is the problem, because he not a PG nor a SG....Worst of all, he CAN't play DEFENSE...

Denver has a desperate need for a SG, Crawfford would fit in that system nicely.

It could be a good idea. I just see two problems for the Knicks.

1) Getting minutes for Nate.
2) Who plays behind Q?

Marbury, Watson and Nate are all too short to play the 2. If we trade Crawford for Watson, Nate doesn't play and we'd have to use Penny behind Q.

Q is a possibility to. Ive been looking at matchups and found 6 different scenarios where we could possibly move him. I was thinking maybe we could grab Nene[just to get his rights] Najara julius hodge and earl watson for Jackie Butler Mo Taylor and Q.

I would try to get Nene along with Watson in that deal. Who you give up is up for discussion.
What happened to Travis Knight? What a waste!

I saw realgm this morning and thought the trade went through already......

Sht man I love Earl Watson. In the last Earl Watson thread we had (did i start that?) I was beaming about him.

Dude is a rugged defender!!! I would be on the trade Marbury bandwagon if we got Watson. I love the dude and.....yes.....he is a Larry Brown type player.

WTF get this trade done!!!!! They need a power fwd badly cuz K-Mart is still worried about his knee after recovering from surgery and Nene just went down. The need Malik Rose. Rose is like the perfect player for that team!!!

WTF!!!! Sign a pettition!!! Make it happen!!!!

If Bloomberg can push some buttons I'll vote for his ass tonight!!!

Come on man you can do it!!!!
