he's confident, aggressive and YOUNG (still the youngest knick...I love typing that)

11 points, 6 boards and 5/10 from the floor (2 missed three pointer attempts, so I'll say 5 for 8 cause he shouldn't be shooting 3 pointers)

Barnes had 7pts and 5 boards himself.

our two headed Small Forward position is WAAAAY better than Tiny Tim...

back to the point...this kid is going to be a star!

I know it's just the third game, but he's been pretty impressive.

He's not a star. Because he'll never be a big time scorer but he'll be a productive player like Prince.

If he ever develops a jumpshot, he'll have star potential, hes got alot of time to do it.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I have always like Ariza, his hustle, hops and energy were the best thing out of last yr's season, he continues to grow as he gets more playing time, he has been working on his jump shot more each day.

It will be just a matter of time that he will be a Star in the League, or at least a 6th Man because it's real nice to have his energy and play off the bench every game.

He's only 20 years old, I think I said 'becoming', but hey, you needed to bash one of my posts...

Ariza is only 20!!! He's got plenty of time to develop a jumper. Once he does, he's gonna be terrific, because he already has many intangibles (not to mention athleticism) that you can't really teach or learn. A good jump shot is something you develop through a lot of hard work. I am confident Ariza will eventually become at the very least a decent shooter, but it might take a couple of years. Gee, by that time he'll already be 22!!

What were most players who are now considered stars able to do at age 20 in the NBA (if they were even in the NBA!) that Ariza isn't able to do?

whats a star? Amare? Bron? Melo? Is Ariza going to be like those guys?

He's a good young player, and nice prospect. I would be thrilled if he's the next Gerald Wallace. Why does everyone have to become a star? He's got no handle and an ugly jumper. He dribbles with his head down into 3 defenders. Lets not overdramatize here. I like him too, ALOT. I would be thrilled with a 12/8/3 type of guy that defends well. THAT would be awesome. Hopefully the guy that will become a star is Curry.

I love the guy but he needs a jumpshot !! He reminds me of Richard Jefferson in his first and second years in the league. Remember he was super athletic but had no jumper, now he does because he worked his azz off during the summer. Are u listening Trevor ???
Isiah Thomas will lead us back to the playoffs in 2006 !!!

He's already 10/6 coming off the bench (and he's only 20!!!) and he defends exceptionally...i guess that means you are thrilled...now go to another thread and be negative there.

and look at the pot calling the kettle dramatic.

20 year olds don't improve. Fish said it himself. If he's 10/6 now having just turned 20, 12/8 is a perfectly reasonable cap

You can look at a guy and see how he moves on offense. Ariza doesn't have that smooth flow on offense like tmac or as a better example rashard lewis. Maybe it's just me but i don't see ariza turning into a big time scorer. He needs to improve his dribling too. He always looks at the ball when he dribbles.

Prime example of what i'm saying is Kwame Brown. People compared him to KG. I saw him play rookie year and i said he'd be lucky to be charles oakley. Kwame has never had that smooth offensive game like howard or amare do.

Trevor is a special player, he makes things happen when he is out there. He doesn't strike me as someone who will put up numbers like a star, but he has the potential to be a very good player who will make an impact on the floor despite what the numbers say.

Saying that he is becoming a star is a reach right now but no one will dispute that Trevor certainly has potential. Take a look at Tayshaun Prince for example, no one calls him a star but he is a very good SF in this league. He has never made an all-star game but he has shown that he can be a starter on a championship tean.

was tmac like that at 20? did we even know he was going to be THIS good? I'm saying he is going to become a star, not that he is a star (he doesn't even start for pete's sake)

I don't remember anybody comparing kwame to KG. Maybe when he was in high school, but I recall jordan having words with him in preseason, so unless it was briggs, I don't buy that.

In TMac's first year, he was 7/4, second year 9/6, third year he got 30 minutes a game and upped it to 15/6.

that was when he was 20, but it was also his third year in the league.

OK, you guys win, he sucks.

Are you comparing those guys in their primes to Ariza now or those guys when they had just turned 20 to Ariza now? The latter is the only fair comparison. Those guys to do much early in their careers at all.

Star not a Star - I don't know. He certainly is fun though and he's getting better.
