let's see, over $250 mil in dollars dished out in future contracts.
still paying 2 coaches that are no longer with the team.
made the playoffs once and then had a utterly DISASTROUS 2nd season.
has amassed a bunch of young talent.
has brought in the best coach in the game.
has amassed a bunch of overpaid veterans.
used his draft picks wisely, but gave up a bunch of picks as well.
not to mention what'll happen this trade deadline.

seriously, if the knicks don't make the playoffs this year, should isiah get fired?

that would be a 3 trade deadlines, 2 drafts, and 2 offseasons.

HE gets his 4 years.

But more important is the financial aspects. Can this team really make money with 180$ mil in salary (with tax)? If so, he can stay regardless!

NO.

This team has a solid young nucleus. It needs time to gel. There's a plan now, and for that alone, Isiah should get to stay around to see the plan succeed or fail.

I think no also. Its a young team. Let it grow. Isiah has put together a team with talented, ahtletic exciting young players at every position.

Lets not worry about the salary. Let Dolan worry about that. We'll never be under the salary cap. I dont care what they spend.

Why wait, he's already done enough damage that we'll be feeling for years. Fire his arse now before he does any more.

I love how people think Isiah should get at least 5 years before he should be judged. Like the last 2 years don't really count because he just got here and now he needs 3 more just to see how the youth movement works out.

Isiah has underachieved in every endeavor he's undertaken after his playing career and he's already underachieving here. And that's putting it kindly.

Who would have thought Isles was going to respond like that.

I would not fire Isiah this year unless the Knicks really bomb, I'm talking 27-31 wins. So far on paper, the Knicks are a young team that is going to take a year or two before we start to see the results from some of these players. With that being said, this team is much better then a 27-31 win team and should win near 38-43 games which would be an improvement from last year. Next year after these young guys have had a full year they will be fully ready to be players in the NBA.

I would give him one more year after this but like Layden would put my foot down on big money deals. Sometimes it takes a year. If we miss the playoffs and still stink with LB at the helm I would let Isiah go by next Christmas

Fire Isiah?

After what Zeke has accomplished in 22 months after inheriting the Scott Layden Mess. If the best recognition Islesfan can offer for his relentless work and creativity is to FIRE hime?

After remaking a bloated, redundan roster with balance and yoots

After a refreshing influx of savvy veterans and honorable college players

If, after obtaining Tony Davis, Jerome James, Mo Taylor, Quentin Richardson, NATE, Channing Frye, Davide Lee, Trevor Ariza, ( DerMarr Johnson ) , Jackie BUTLER from out of nowhere, and Eddy Freakin' CURRY?

AND the best damn coach in the NBA

If that is The best Islesfan can offer, and you agree with him

If you subscribe to an ultimatum that reminds me more of a public lynching

Then you don't deserve a winner.

You deserve your pathetic narrow-minded agenda and to be perpetuallly miserable as your fry in Crisco Oil for all eternity

Go Knicks!

Go Isiah!

This thread is pathetic

> Over $250 mil in dollars dished out in future contracts.

False. Conveniently omiting the contractts come off the cap next year AND the deft handlikng of Allan Houston's albatross that was also inherited

>still paying 2 coaches that are no longer with the team.

Just hired Larry Brown. It ain't your money.

>made the playoffs once and then had a utterly DISASTROUS 2nd season.

What Cultural Change happens overnight with ANY professional franchise with so many inherited issues, not the least of which is a salary cap?

>has amassed a bunch of young talent.

and the problem is what? Oh, you hate Nate?

> has amassed a bunch of overpaid veterans.

Repeat, it ain't your money. Tony Davis and Mailk Rose are LEADERS!

>gave up a bunch of picks

What picks? Sheesh, you REALLY want Shandon Anderson back?

>not to mention what'll happen this trade deadline.

Please look in your crystal ball and tell us oh wise one

>>seriously, if the knicks don't make the playoffs this year, should isiah get fired?

Yes, please bring back Al Bianchi, a good fella

Should Isiah be fired if we don't make the playoffs? Not necessarily. We have a lot of young players and a new coach. It might take some time to make a winning team out of them. Progress is what I'd like to see.

Now if Isiah trades all of our rookies and brings back players like Anderson, Eisley and Weatherspoon - then yes, he should be fired.

Isles is bring up the question if all this wonderful upgrades we don't still make the playoffs then what?

I think the outlook for next season is what will count. Acutally, my outlook for this year is quite low. THis is how you do a rebuild because in NYC you can't blow it up and expect people to stick around. Too much competition. IN Portland, there is none.

I want to make the playoffs, but its better to get this thing right and play the rooks.

layden was fired because fan perception was the team was dead and not going anywhere. That rocked management because the garden was dying, and sponsers were thinking twice! The "BUZZ" must continue, and we must play to win AND rebuild.

Firing Isiah won't happen so long as the buzz (real or percieved) continues.

I rarely agree with Isles right wing knick views, but they are well presented and worthy of thinking over. Certainly they are topical!

That's good now you both can go buy your crack rocks together because it's more than a so called buzz it's optimisum. I didn't see any hope for this team when Howard Eisley and the rest of the Utah Jazz played here, but now looking at Frye, Lee, Curry, Richardson and the rest of the guys I feel hope. Hope was not here 3 years back we just knew we were getting older, stiffer and shorter. Isiah should get a raise just for getting the team three legit big men! nuff said

mr.earl - i did not offer any opinion on the subject. i merely stated what happened. he did all of those things so i ask all of you, should isiah get fired if we don't make the playoffs after all those things he has done. both positive and negative points were given and nothing was said in a sarcastic nature. it was a list of facts and a question based on them.

Nalod - make no mistake and let's be crystal clear. about the comparisons.

Layden was fired because there was not a single productive player transaction on his watch. Layden was fired because he ADDED larger payroll numbers by signing dreck

Isiah has changed the culture of the entire franchise. Dress code? The Knicks are such a diciplinedunit that a stricter dress code was already in place.

Buzz?

No, it's not that simple. Isiah has obtained intelligent players that were encouraged to get out on the street s and talk with fams rather than reflect the vacuous relationships of the past. Isiah has brought a group that would NOT cower to Latrell Sprewell, or anyone else, cursing at the bench. in another uniform

Isiah has changed the script.

Call it what you want.

My beloved basketball franchise is finally on the right track.

It is a work in PROGRESS that is not two years old.... but more excitement and optimism since the draft of Patrick Ewing. What IS the problem?

Not HaterAde?

Why is the best recognition some can offer only at the end of a rope ?

doesn't that sound like the name of a firm? i'm not sure what they would specialize in, though.

"good morning, anderson, eisley and weatherspoon. no i'm sorry, mr. anderson is not available. no i'm sorry sir, mr. weatherspoon's not available either. no, actually sir, mr. eisely isn't either. excuse me? all right sir, if you really must know, they are currently laying on the floor in mr. weatherspoon's office playing in a massive pile of money and laughing their asses off uncontrollably. yes that's right, sir. no i'm sorry they're scheduled to do this for the entire rest of the day. you're welcome. and thank you very much for calling, mr. layden."
