Why is having Marbury move from a PG to a dual role of PG/SG considered a demotion? Did Isiah or Iverson consider it a demotion when it happened to them? Why is everything in NY considered a negative? Are some "Knick fans" rooting for Marbury to fail so they can say I told you so? What should I have for lunch?

Iverson and Marbs are similiar in that they are scorers but they are very different type of players. Iverson will dominate the ball regardless cuz he is thinking that he has to drop 50 everynight to have a good game for his team to win.

Marbs is point guard....he might have a shooters mentality but dude is a point guard. Marbs is more effective in the half-court with the pick and roll.....trying to run over defenders for the and one. Shooting pull ups when he crosses half court. Drive and dishing. Marbs gets 8 assist a night easy no matter how bad his team is. Iverson has never done that....yet at least.

I'm kinda sick of talking about it. Larry Brown ain't really helping it by fueling that fire. He should say Marbs is my point guard and that is that.....Larry loves to draw attention to his team. He used to dog out Iverson in the media. He used to dog Smits and Travis Best. He used to dog Tayshaun Prince and Darko......the list goes on and on......

It's all mind games he is trying to make his players accountable by putting pressure on them. Eventually any man would either smack Larry or show and prove that he is wrong not just to him but to the world....therefore winning more games.

I just warn the real Knick fans out there not to play too much into it. Larry will be Larry. Notice Isiah is just chillin since Larry came aboard. All is well in Knick land!!!!

I don't think Larry is fueling the fire. I think he is old school. And in the old school when basektball was played properly, guys played 2 or 3 positions every game depneding on match ups. The three title holding Celtics, who was the PG? DAnny Ainge? Dennis Johnson? Sometimes Larry Bird. The media has become a gossip rag. Searching and hunting for controversy at every turn. Larry Brown says for the good of the team he is going to do what it takes to maximize Marbury's talents as a SG and a PG. Somehow the media and the fans turn this into a negative.

This does not become a negative until Marbury underperforms or complains. At this point it's a non-issue.

I don't think many fans see it as a demotion. Only one or two critics here seem to

Ohhhhhh Bonn, you are a BIT wrong. A TON of fans are starting to give up on Marbury, across the message boards, and as we all know, people believe everything they read in the media. But truth is, Marbury is the best player on this team currently. We haven't seen him much in the pre season. I'm sure he'll put up similar numbers. Maybe reduced scoring, but more assists. Kind of a beefed up Billups role. And I'm not saying his scoring will be reduced b/c he sucks or b/c LB will be putting shackles on him. I'm saying it b/c we have a lot more talent on this team now who can score a lot more. Am I a Marbury lover? No way. But I think he'll do just fine in his role.

It's a demotion because Marbury is evil.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think it's more the reason for the switch and not so much the switch...LB says it's to maximize marbs strengths (everyone seems to forget he played the 2 under the previous 3 coaches at NY) but those on the board that hate him say it's because he sucks at the point.

That's where the arguments begin.

IMHO, he's not being moved because he sucks at teh point (my arguments have been well documented, and not so well received)

Nobody said Iverson sucked at the point, but for some reason, I guess because of Starbury's Brooklyn persona, people either love or hate him, and those that hate look for a reason for the move and look at it as a demotion, those that don't hate are not saying he should NOT play the 2, we're just defending the best player on the teams reputation.

CAREER 20/8 beyotches.

no doubt
all kool aid all the time.

You simply misunderstood me. Those people gave up on Marbury a long time ago. If you asked them, I doubt you'd say the reason they're giving up on Marbury is that Brown may be switching him to SG. They're two unrelated issues.
