clearly, marbury is a better pg!

just like our new additions, I think it will take some time for them to jell into a system and get comfortable with team mates. would not read this much into one game

last year, there was a thread about the lakers center (was it mihm?) who had a huge game the first game and they were like- we should of got him, etc.

82 games is a long season.

amare going down changes everthing for that team. kt could feed off amare's being doubled. plus he'd have all that help on the boards. already nash is responding by shooting more and passing less. i hope amare comes back soon and comes back whole. he's good for basketball.

Kurt will have a chance to reflect on how good he had it playing next to Marburry. We can't say the same in N.Y, because we have Frye who is a much better shooter than Kurt and most of all a much better player than Kurt.

There's a lot of interest in Kurt on this board because many people over-valued him and others hated him even though he was really somewhere in between--just a nice 6th man forced to start. There's also a lot of interest because people want to comapre how he plays with Nash setting him up for shots compared with when Marbury was setting him up. Keep the threads coming.

Any PG and PF (Nash and Kurt) would benefit from having a healthy Amare. Now we're gonna see how well they can play with a more ordinary roster.

Frye is potentially better- until the games are played, we'll never know.

And as far as KT being on phoenix- on the knicks, he HAD to score & rebound. In Phoenix, he can be a 'role player' and still help them win.

You have to take a look at who they were playing. Both teams played alot of small ball. Doesn't fit KT's strenghts. Would you rather have Marion guarding Dirk or KT?

Not sure if that's the case without Amare. They're in for a tough fight just to make the playoffs. They could use a lot more from Kurt--probably a lot more than he can give them.

I don't think there's any PF in the league I'd rather have Kurt guard than Marion guard. Kurt's a nice role player but Marion's a 1000 times better than Kurt at nearly everything

and look how far Mariopn has come since he entered the league, ya remember when he was even more of a tweener than Ariza was when he entered the league. Marion has come a long way, and i am looking for Air Riza to emerge just the same by like next year.

The thing with Kurt Thomas is that as much as he is an asset, he is a liability on offense, with some of the sets they run, if they slow it down, then he could be much more well rounded.

Marion did just fine against them last year. Traylor's not a scoring threat against any player. He's strong enough to guard them and quick enough to guard the wide bodies who are also quick (Brand, Zach, Boozer)

I don't know if Reezy will ever be the man here in N.Y., because he will never get the playing time that he deserves. In my opinion, he is more worthy to be in the starting lineup at 2 or 3 guard than Crawff is. My dream lineup has always includes Reezy at the SF position because of his defensive skills. I know that he is not a good shooter, but the fact that he doesn't shoot the ball much is an asset in my opinion. He takes all of the good percentage shots by penetrating the paint and by dunking the ball, similar to the way Amare played last season. Reesy at the SF and Q at SG is really the way to go.....

there's some things you can't take away from kurt - he was the SIXTH, repeat, the SIXTH best rebounder in the ENTIRE league last year. rebounding is not a team thing, it's all individual effort and he was the SIXTH best in the league. secondly, his jumpshot is pretty damn nice for a big man. is his offensive game limited? yes. is his defensive game limited? yes.

but don't hate on kurt b/c he's a solid player.

and don't isolate one game when there's 81 left on the season.

In some respects it is a team thing. If the other four players on your starting lineup are average (Marbury, Sweetney) or poor (Crawford) or extremely poor (Tim Thomas) rebounders for their position, by default you'll be getting an extra two of the team's rebounds. Kurt's an 8 RPG type of player who was playing on a team ideally suited for rebound stat inflation for him. There's nothing wrong with being an 8 RPG level player like Kurt is but he's NOT the sixth best rebounder in the NBA even if his stats were inflated to that level last year. Rebounding is a skill that doesn't fluctuate dramatically year to year (even though the #s may depending partly on the team you're on). If Kurt were really a top 6 NBA rebounder, he would have had several years of 10+ RPG. He's more like a top 25, 8 RPG level player whose stats may go up or down like anyone else's depending on the team he's on.

I think Marion is a good description of what Ariza could be similar to.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I think Trevor will be more of a Prince kind of player. I would love that, a defensive stopper is exactly what we need in NY.

I remember people saying Kurt Thomas was going for all star status this year in Phoenix. To those people I say Ha Ha Ha ha
