How far has Marbury fallen since this time last year? A year ago he was the face of the Knicks and Isiah's pet. Now they're taking the ball away from him and moving him to SG and it's not like they have anybody better to replace him. It's amazing how Marbury completely disappeared when he wasn't playing PG in the preseason. Without the ball, Marbury looks very uncomfortable and out of sorts.

And if that weren't bad enough, Marbury is suddenly Isiah's red headed step child with Nate becoming the favored son. Not very surprising. Isiah is like Don King, attaching himself to the "it" player of the moment, kind of like a leech. He did it with Damon Stoudemire, he did it with Jermaine O'Neal, he did it with Marbury and he's doing it with Nate now.

This Marbury situation is a ticking time bomb and it's only a matter of time before it goes off. Thank God Marbury and his HUGE contract are so tradeable.

Nate is less the face of the franchise, more of a sideshow/fan favorite (think JYD). Get real. Pre-season?

Marbs has hall of fame numbers, not because of pre-season play, but because of regular season dominance. How about we wait until a veteran, perrenial 20 & 8 guy plays a couple regular season games before we talk about how far he has fallen?

Watch Sportsdesk tonight and tell me that Nate isn't the face of the franchise or at the very least the Knicks aren't trying to make him that.

Last weekend reporters were looking for Isiah to get a comment from him and he had the PR people tell that that he couldn't be reached because he was at the Knicks practice facility in Westchester, working with Nate. They could have just left it at he was there working with the team but no, he was working with Nate. The same way he was working with Marbury last year at this time.

I don't quite remember anybody making that big of a deal with JYD though, you'll have to refresh my memory.

So the "hall of fame" PG is being asked to no longer be the PG and to let a couple of PG neophytes take over his position and that's a good sign?

Isles needs one of these

Isiah's job is to win games....Marbury does seem to be falling out of favor not just with Isiah but to the team in general.....Craw seems comfortable running the point. Nate is the steal of the draft....not good signs for Marbs.

Knicks right now either need a shooting guard or a real small-fwd. Marbury is the biggest chip left

i don't know why i bother, but here goes.
so, marbury is isiah's "redheaded stepchild" because he's surrounding him w/players. why is that a bad thing?
also, i believe larry "took the ball away" from AI also...yup, that sucked for them. that's it i'll be quiet now. i just have the bad habit of clicking before looking.

Of course he's going to look a little loss, if u ask me, the entire team plays like there learning something new. As for nate, they need to desperately teach him some PG skills, and why not learn from one of the best to ever play the position. Steph is more concern with how to adjust to a sg for long stretches at a time as oppose to stints. Isles u need to look a little deeper into this before you make your assumtions

You said this since day one....we're still waiting for the bomb to go off. The Marbury Situation is a time bomb. The Isiah situation (and anyone he comes into contact with) is a time bomb. The Larry Brown situation is a time bomb.

........we're still waiting.

As far as Nate being the 'face' os the Knicks...use your head. He's created a buzz around the city because of his athletic abilities and he's a joy to watch at 5'9. He's far from the best player on the team. All that is being done is marketing. This is the time the of year the marketing department steps up and sells the Knicks in every way they can. Whether it be the Larry Brown angle, The Isiah Thomas angle, The Eddy Curry angle, The Nate Robinson (the shorter than 5'9 and can dunk with two hands guy) or Steph. Right now, it's about selling tickets and getting people excited. When the games begin, it will clearly be Steph's show. Brown's going to figure out the best way to use him because he is the best player on the team in my opinion and the only guy who puts up allstar numbers NOW!

It's preseason. Once the season starts the line between who's who will be less blury for you. I promise.

I still don't get the "Nate is steal of the draft".

DANNY GRANGER WAS THE STEAL OF THE DRAFT.

Granger should of went top 6. Nate at 21 was around the point most thought he'd go. People act like Nate was picked 50th in draft.

it is all a part of his underdog status. 21st is not far away from a lottery pick.

Sleeper of the draft is more like it. No one had him picked in the first round on any mocks I saw, if anything he was picked early, not late.

Hey Isles, I just watched the beginning of MSG Sports Desk and at the top of the show I watched as they threw out the topics they'll be covering. These are the times they show the 'faces' of whatever franchise they're eluding to. As they mentioned the Knicks gearing up to open against Boston who did they show but the current face of the team...Steph. Then the opening theme played and as they showed each team and it's 'front man' what do you think they showed for the Knicks? A layup by Steph. It hasn't gotten to the 'story of the night' yet. But the stories change from day to day.

So there's your answer Isles. Knicks main front men: Steph, LB and Isiah. It ain't hard to tell.

Marbury hasn't fallen at all from this time last year on the court atctually. His preseason last year was nearly identical to this year's. Brown's made it clear that Marbury will be the team's starting PG; so I assume the team's view of him has not fallen either.

Nate will be lucky to play 10 minutes a game. Face of the franchise, please!

Marbury will be fine and have his best year yet....you heard it here.

And did you miss the "Nate Robinson will be playing his first NBA regular season game". And the interview of Nate later in the show. But they showed Marbury hitting a layup so I guess that's equal billing to you. Especially for the supposed face of the franchise.

Be a little more selective next time.

How is this not going to change Marbury's game for the worse? He's spent his entire career (NBA, college and high school) with the ball and now LB wants to take the ball away from him. Marbury isn't anywhere near the scorer and player that Iverson is so please don't make that analogy.

look, i think everybody universally agrees that this is marbury's defining season as a pro. this will either solidify his legacy as a great individual talent but not a good leader/team player or it will change it to that of a player that finally "get's it".

who gives a flying crap if he's the face of the franchise or not? does it really matter.

everything in hindsight.

Islesfan! give it up man....Marb will have the ball more than 75%...believe that. He is our best player and he will make players around him better. If he was able to do that with Nazr, Kurt, Amare, Marion and others, he will do the same with our current front court players also. Once the regular season starts tonight, look for Marb to insert himself in the game...much different than the way he played during preseason.

Tony Sky Allen was picked #24 and he was considered the steal of last years draft as well as Trevor Ariza for the intangibles they brought to their teams
