30...30 wins at home. i think this should be emphasized more than anything and that's to win AT HOME. establish home court and the rest will take care of itself.

if we go 30-11 at home, then we should be over .500 and into the playoffs.

I'm not a big fan of picking one number. I prefer to just tell the guys to play their hardest and the Ws will take care of themselves.

I'd agree about winning at home- but go and look at who won 30 or more home games last year- wait, I'll save everyone the trouble:

Detroit
Miami
Denver
Phoenix
Sacramento
San Antonio

We're not in that league yet-

A better goal would be in the 25-29 range and being decent on the road.

didn't denver back into the playoffs last year?

I'd say we are now in their league...but the thin air may have aided them.

no doubt

we almost had a good home court record last year and then they started playing lathargic and giving up early and big leads and couldn't close out games, lets hope that trend is changed and we are on the better end of the winning side, we need it

they were bad on the road- Karl probably got them playing at a high level towards the end of the year.

Thin air probably helps them have the 'home court' edge against other teams. it also doesn't help when your in the midst of a five game road trip with a start or stop there.

In this league, playing hard or your hardest isn't enough. Most people play their hardest, at least most of the time. It's more about playing well and smart and the Knicks have to establish their homecourt. That's what the good teams do. Make teams realize that when they come to the garden, odds are against them, very highly, that they lose (Besides the Knicks of course). I know a lot of people are mainly just looking for progress this season, which is splendid. However, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm flat out fed up with the losing seasons and would like to see a real good team for once, with a future as well. We seem to have a nice balance on the roster, for the most part in terms of youth and vets, so I think we'll see the progress with the young guys while the vets who deserve to play will.

I think djsunyc request for 30 at home is acceptable and I see no reason we can't aim to do that. Problem is, if we're a .500 team, that gives us only 12 wins on the road.

I agree. 30 home wins and this season will truly be a success (and a half)

I don't think that djsunyc's request ofr 30 home games is unreasonable. I understand everyone's need for caution and the need to keep hopes down, but not this year...the knicks will play up to our hopes, not surpass our doubts.

well that's the thing - i think we're going to be bad on the road, especially before february so i don't really anticipate more than 15 wins on the road right now, especially with that early road schedule. that's why we need to win 30 at home to get over the .500 mark.

well, that explains that, but I was correct in remembering they started the season sucking.

they won one less game then the knicks all year in the second half of the season.

hoofah.

no doubt.

their team totally shut down on bzdelik. then they tried michael cooper but i don't know what happened with him - he was herb-like as their head coach. karl came in and was like a miracle with them. kind of like how larry's gonna be with us

30 wins at home is tough. A team that can win 30 at home should be able to win 20 on the road. So now we're talking about 50 win seasons. Fishmike once said the hardest 5 wins are between 45 wins and 50 wins. I agree with him. Let's see us get to around, close to 45 wins, before we start shooting really high.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think the Knicks last had 30+ home wins was with Riley's Knicks. While this is one of my all-time favorite Knick rosters. I am not about to put them on the same level as Riley's Knicks even with their flaws. If this team gets 30 home wins with this roster, with their experience then LB will have COY honors, and somebody on this team will be a candidate for MVP. 30+ wins at home in the east will be tough for some of the elite teams in this conference.

30 wins may be high, but we definately need to make the Garden a true advantage. This is more or less a completely new team, but I still have no confidence in their abilities on the road. I want to see Larry come out and get our guys motivated every night, whether the crowd's cheers are for them or not.
Silence is truely the greatest sound on the road...unless of course we're playing across the river, where Net fans are just an urban legend and the cheers are for the orange and blue.
