He's Chris Palmer's pick.

How ridiculous for people to predict the "Most improved player" award.
So stupid. Almost by definition, it is the player that surprises us the most
by their improvement.

Why would anyone vote for Nate when most people know that Nate probably won't get more than 10 mpg in his first year on a very deep Knicks team.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I don't think it is stupid to predict the most improved player, there are situations which lend themselves to rapid improvement, such as a position opening up, growing, putting on muscle, working on your J.

"Most surprising player" would seem to me to be a somewhat different category, though the most surprising player could possibly be the most improved player or vice-versa.

Some of the players picked for most improved player strike me as ridiculous, such as Chris Weber, or T.J. Ford, who did not even play last season.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Playing is an improvement over not playing, is it not?

pwned.

Don't jinx it for T.J., he hasn't played yet! I guess every rookie is greatly improved too.

2xpwned!

Hmm.. that's debateable. Did T.J. really improve? Maybe he was capable of playing that way but his injury was the factor why he didn't. That doesn't mean you improve talent wise just your healthwise. I mean Ewing didn't get the award back in the 86-87 season after he came back from his injury and put all-star numbers. Micheal Jordan didn't win it in the 96 season. Both didn't play much the season before, did they?

I think Channing Frye has a better chance at ROY than Nate Robinson.

NBA.COM people has Nate as 8th best chance of getting the nod. Channing is 9th. Charlie V's game is built for the pros. If Frye was more of a selfish player, he would give some of those guys a run for their money. Offensively, he can score at will.

ROY's usually come from teams on youth movements, or superstars in the making. We have neither happening here. We do have a youth movement, but Larry will play the veterans more.

If Nate got 40mpg I could see him making all 1st Team.

It will prob be Chris Paul. Whos going to get all the time he can play.

I have a feeling that Deron Williams will be the ROY. Competing with Milt Palacio and Keith McLoed, Williams will start or at least will see a lot of time. In Norm Sloan, he is playing for a coach that really maximizes his player's abilities. As a point guard, Williams has a few good players to throw it to. He's got good size for his position, and is known for his defense. He can shoot the lights out. He has also produced well in the preseason.

Only way Nate wins ROY is if Marbury goes down for the season in game 1 (hope to god not). Frye has a little better shot, at least he has a shot of getting decent minutes.

I agree with tood. It should be Paul, just based on the fact that he could get 40 mpg. No other rookie player will come close to 40 mpg.
