You know basketball is back once Nalod is making his classic game threads again.

So glad the NBA is back

I, like Larry profess that it will take a few games to get my rotation and into a groove!

I came into the preseason in good shape, but still need to work on a few things. The "knick fans know" moniker has some nice potential!

I looking forward to working wit Larry and Isiah! Im worked with Tim Grover at "Hoops the Gym" this summer and took a writing course as well! Larry brings a certain level of professionalism!

I wish I could just wake up and the regular season game vs the Celtics would just be starting. The speculation of how Marbury & Crawford are going to be used. Or how good or bad we are going to play this season is killing me.

Looks like Quentin will be avaliable for the opener. Will he start? I think its very likely that the starting backcourt will be Steph, Quentin and Barnes. Why Barnes over Ariza? Brown seems to be more excited about Barnes than Ariza, for any reason. Frontcourt? Either Davis and Curry or, gulp, Rose and Curry. Davis may not play a lot even if he starts, so there will be time for Frye and Mo T, who seems to have impressed Larry a lot...

Like I said before ARIZA is not ready to start. He is just a spark plug that can jump and nothing else really. He has yet to improve his jumper while it looks like Barnes is the same player who can occasionally hit a shot.

Sorry for not being big on Ariza like the majority of the guys here. He really has not shown much improvement.

Other than that, Let kick some CELTIC A$$ and get off ont he right foot. It's been a long time since I've been excited about an opening night!!!

I'll be @ the bar with the other fellas meeting up, rooting hard for the Knicks to smiddack the Celtics!

After that, we can start smacking the rest of the NBA!

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

hmm.. does having Barnes mean Ariza is expendable? Perhaps we let him walk in the off-season?? I don't think we have his Bird rights, so we can't sign him for more than the league minimum

BOnnie is our Bird rights local expert. Maybe he can lend a hand. The "Arenas" rule was changed to protect teams.

here's boston's roster:

Roster

NO PLAYER AGE POS HT WT DOB SCHOOL

43 Kendrick Perkins 20 C 6-10 280 11/10/1984 No College
7 Al Jefferson 20 PF 6-10 265 01/04/1985 No College

44 Brian Scalabrine 27 PF 6-9 235 03/18/1978 USC
4 Ryan Gomes 23 SF 6-7 250 09/01/1982 Providence
34 Paul Pierce 28 SF 6-6 230 10/13/1977 Kansas
9 Justin Reed 23 SF 6-8 240 01/16/1982 Mississippi
11 Marcus Banks 23 PG 6-2 200 11/19/1981 Nevada-Las Vegas
20 Dan Dickau 27 PG 6-0 190 09/16/1978 Gonzaga
0 Orien Greene 23 PG 6-4 208 02/04/1982 Louisiana-Lafayette
42 Tony Allen 23 SG 6-4 213 01/11/1982 Oklahoma State
12 Ricky Davis 26 SG 6-7 195 09/23/1979 Iowa
5 Gerald Green 19 SG 6-8 200 01/26/1986 No College
13 Delonte West 22 SG 6-4 180 07/26/1983 St. Joseph's (PA)

i am really not that impressed with this team. they have a lot of weakness up front, despite jefferson's promise. i don't know how their backcourt's gonna shake out with dickau and banks and then their whole collection of sg's.

last year they wiped the floor with us at home the 2nd game of the season if i recall. this year i say we beat them on their floor. not by much, but i say we win. big games from marbs, frye, curry. contributions from nate, q, davis, reezy, jamal. and a surprising kick in the middle from big game!

we should beat the celtics by 8 pts, probably more. the celtics are pretty crappy. they key is to just keep throwing it down to curry and let them try to stop him. if we end up perimeter oriented, then we'll keep boston in the game.

this would be the first time we'd go 1-0 in like 5 years.

but unfortunately, i see us coming back home and losing to washington.

I too think we are 1-1 after our first two games. While I'm hoping for a blowout on Boston's floor, I doubt it will happen. Knicks win by 6.

Maybe Pierce will be disgruntled enough that we can get em? Would Ainge trade him here? doubtful. But we do have yutes and money to offer...
