I'd keep Sprewell. Don't get Big Dog, come on, he's terrible and would get eaten alive in NYC. Spree has for years asked, pleaded for a low post threat, he has one. Let's see what he can do with it now. Knicks are going to have a watchable offense now without slow Jackson. Frank Williams put up huge numbers in the NCAAs this year, 60 percent from three point land and 51 from the field. That's phenomenal. I think he's going to be like Tinsley, poor final year of college hurt his stock, goes to a team with lots of veterans and excels.
This is the offense Chaney wanted; an opening, fast, up-tempo offense. McDyess in the west averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds, in the East he'll put up huge numbers, maybe 22 points and 13 or 14 reboudns. That'll draw double teams, which opens it up for good shooters like Howard Eisley and especially Allan Houston. On the other block Thomas can shoot his J's all day, which opens the lane for a slasher like Spree or Postell. Out of the 8 playoff teams last year from the East, only 2 or 3 have enough big men to stop Antonio McDyess.
And say what you want about him not playing as much as Camby last year, he could've played out from the All-Star Break until the end of the year but his team was an astronomical amount out of the playoffs and had just traded LaFrentz and Van Exel, and he, from a business standpoint, saw no reason to risk playing and getting hurt or sit out for a team going nowhere.
Layden made a nice move considering his boss told him to get them in the playoffs next year.
