In the few minutes he played, he was moving so incredibly slow, and looked so fat and lazy, it was pissing me off. He needs to lose another 20. He had that nice turnaround on Webber, but nothing compares to have a young, agile, athletic Curry dunking it on everyone out there.

We will still need him somewhat, as a backup, but Butler can step up nicely if JJ isn't in shape. I hope JJ gets in shape though, it would be nice to have a bruiser like hinm off the bench for 15 minutes a game.

I really wish we had gotten hunter instead of jerome james..hunter would be great for an off the bench, 15 minute a game player - he's younger, has more upside, and is more athletic. I think larry brown could've done wonders with him - i think JJ is basically going to be the same player he has been all his career - if he doesn't improve considerably, and keeps playing the way he's playing, his contract really was one of the worst signed this off season.

So your opinion changed after 10 minutes of a preseason game? Come on.

every stat in the book said james is a 5-4 1.5 player in 17-18 minutes----he picked a great time to have an abberational run in the playoffs-one that got him another 30mm$ he'll be OK, but he is what he is.

Didn't he do the same in the playoffs three years prior, against Duncan, which got Seattle to give him his last deal? James appears to only show up during the playoffs during contract years.

On the plus side, he'll be a nice asset in the playoffs in the four years. :p
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Why keep him?

Trade to him to some team desperate for size.

Anyone for Jalen Rose and Aaron Williams for Big Gain and Penny?

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

The thing I don't understand is how he came into training camp out of shape. All summer he was talking about how excited he was to be a Knick and how he can't wait to get out and help the team. Than he show's up to camp noticeably overweight and out of shape. Says a little bit about his character if you ask me.

I am sorry but Isiah is an Idiot he gave him a long term deal and Boykins puts up the same numbers rebounding the ball, how is it that everyone, fan, writer, gm alike stayed clear of this guy but Isiah loved him......

Might be the worst traded and free agent signer in the entire NBA, if you leave out the clippers

He's big game with the contracts on the line.

there was reason many think this was a stupid deal for the knicks.

Ultimatly, the Isiah love and Big Games big words seem to elevate his status.

The guy is garbage, but Im rooting for him hard to be a man and bone up in the conditioning!

Too bad Dido could not have vocalized his visions and told Isiah about curry earlier! He could have avoided him!

But I understand the need at the time we signed him.

I am on record this guy is nothing but a career backup, and I can live with that. Isiah saw this guy as "starter material"? Not his best work in an otherwise great off season for him.

As a professional that just got commited to a 30 million dollar deal, there's no reason to show up at training camp out of shape. He should have been in shape, ready to learn as much as possible.

rarely do players trim down during the season. Its too late now. He should've been working hard in the offseason. I hate this guy with a passion already!

As long as JJ gets in Big Game shape by the playoffs he'll be worth the money for us. He's been sitting out with a bad hammy before the last couple games right? It just takes a while for anyone to get back into actual game shape especially when you are 7ft and 300lbs.

I don't hate him yet, but me and guns seem to be on the same page. Granted he could have pulled a hamstring if he was in shape, odds are he pulled it because that was the most running he has done in a while. I know Q pulled his hammy too, but at least he was at Grover's this summer working on his game. James was prob. on his couch trying to eat the mid level exceptions worth of Big Mac's.

I am giving Big Game time. I am not ready to get off the Big Game bandwagon just yet. Give him time. He will be needed when Shaq comes to town. Going up against mobile big men like Dalembert and Hunter was hard for James. He should do better against more conventional centers. Centers like Shaq, BigZ, Blount, Marc Jackson and the like.

My topic name wasn't right in this case but we discussed JJ briefly here http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=12099

If he's not traded he can be useful to eat up fouls off the bench vs shaq and or any other big front court. specially if there are injuries to our key frontcourt players. (no pun intended!!!)
What happened to Travis Knight? What a waste!

Give the man time to adjust to Brown's teaching....He will get in shape...I wonder if Zeke included that in his contract...That should be in every players contract come to think about it. " if you don't meet a certain weight requirement, you will be fine".

If Big Game played with last year's Knicks we probably would have been describing him as "lightning quick"!
