he was widely compared to T-mac. many of us, including me dreamed of getting him but were laughed at at the thought of him slipping to the #8 spot in the draft, now look at him:

played over 30 total mins in all combined games and this is what he achieved:

decent low 40's percentile shooting, which was his biggest strength aside from athleticism... but here's the thing, the trade mark that will always have him compared to the darius miles' and tim thomas's.

in over 30 mins of playing, some playing against scrubs, others against stars, he has not recorded one assist, one rebound, one block, or one steal! Now you might think, how does that make him into the fugazy tim thomas, well he hasn't even attempted a free throw. i mean come on, with that versatility and agility, you'd expect him to just blow past defenders and get fouled on a fg attempt, or on a pump fake. im sry but this kid does not look the Tmac he was being compared to, far from it my friends. yes, i am saying it now, he will not even be as good as darius miles. maybe im jumpin the gun too quickly, but as an 18th pick who refused to go up against any other draft players and was supposed to go top 8 for sure, he shoudl come to the nba with a chip on his shoulder if he was a player with heart and prove your for real and a winner. whose with me? whose against me?

havent seen him play in the summer leagues or preseason, but from what I've seen of him in H.S.....not impressed AT ALL.

To be honest, skill-wise, I'm better than him.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

not a Green wanter but still this is awful quick to judge a guy fresh out of HS playing behind some very talented guards and a coach whose skill on the bench is definitely questionable.

^ Maybe I just have something against all these H.S. "superstar mentality" guys. You're right.

I miss the days when every guy out of the 1st Round had 2-4 years of college experience...

There's no real content to this message. Are we seriously already calling him a bust before he's played a single NBA game? Get real.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

agreed. Kobe and T-mac probably put up similar numbers in a stretch run of their first pre-season games.

oh i dont think so. dating back i was able to find that they did not put up similar numbers. tmac was putting up nearly 2 blocks in 30 mins, unprecedented for a 6'8 player at the time. kobe would get by his man at will and either get tothe hoop or draw a foul.

Please. He just needs to screw his head on man. I've never seen him play but from what I've heard, he has all the talent in the world to be just as good as T-Mac. He just needs to make that commitment. He needs a team that will whoop him into shape. When it's all said and done, he'll probably be a star.

Green will not be as good as Kobe, Tmac. those guys are special players. Green can still be very good though once he matures

I never said he did. I said people said he has the talent. It's just too early to tell. Even if all 82 of his games this year are bad. The guy was probably just too young to come into the NBA if anything.

This is a far cry from you saying we gave up the 'next T Mac'.

I'm going to college in Massachusetts and I've been able to watch a couple of Celtic preseason games (one of which Green only played like 5 minutes in the 4th quarter). I haven't seen too much of Green yet but this thread is ridiculous. The kid is playing out of high school and has not even played a real NBA game yet. From what I've seen so far, he is very raw but it isn't hard to see the potential that he is loaded with. Green really looks exactly like T-Mac did when T-Mac was getting his first NBA experience. I'll be able to watch a lot of Green this season so after a certain amount of games I will be able to tell if I think he can be a very good player. However, it is way too early right now to project what he will be. Lets remember that both T-Mac and Kobe took 2 or 3 years before they really started to break out and show their greatness. I think Green should get the same chance unless some of want to compare his performance this season to what Lebron did in his rookie year which is just ridiculous.

Not that it makes him any less of a player, but Gerald Green only has 9 fingers. One of his fingers (Right Hand) had to be amputated when he was a child.

I never said I expected him to match Tmac's career in every aspect. Tmac, kobe, Lebron, carter & iverson are special players. Which is why I kept refereing to green and granger as potential allstars(who's game resembles Pierce/Pippen's game except I didn't say he was going to be those players) I also said how much both players would look better starting for us and make us a more exciting team than crawford and ariza. Does he have to be Tmac for that to happen? No. doing better than crawford and ariza is not that difficult

awesome man! I'll make note of that and I'll take your word on Green over someone who doesn't see him play but looks at the boxscore and sees an 18yr old loggin only 5mins.
