He has the hype, he jumps like his legs are hydraulic pumps and he easily outruns everyone on the court.
BUT, he will not be effective for long stretches if he does not learn to things:
PASSING When and how to pass. He is a bad passer and makes bad decisions with the ball. He drives to the hole almost everytime and doesn't try and pass until he is in the air and it is too late. Has arms are too short to wrap passes around people at the last moment so he really needs to develop this part of his game. He is 5'7", he will or ought to be playing the point at his size, passing is like, a super huge part of that, especially if he wants to be more than a spark plug off the bench.
SHOOTING He needs to develop a decent jumper. He drives every time because he can always get by his man, and he doesn't have confidence in his jumper. He needs to improve this or defenders will just fall back off of him. As a part of shooting he needs to develop the tear drop like steph. He will not be able to get his shot off in the line as easily when the season starts. He already is having some trouble.
Right now, he is best suited as a spark plug off of the bench and he can come in and put some points in, and get to the line. He can run and start fast breaks even off of made shots and force the other team to run down and get on defense. This should lead to some open jumpers as the D overcommits, but will we make them, and will he make the right pass...that remains to be seen.
He has all the tools, he just needs to listen to Larry and copy some elements of Steph's game.

He's not a bad spot up shooter, don't know about his pull-up J just yet though.
His main thing is that he gets so hyped that most of the time he plays out of control. I couldn't think of a better coach to reign him in without taking away his aggressiveness than Brown though.
He's also a good presence on the boards despite his height. In the game against Dallas, after Frye missed his little flip shot at the end that would have tied it, it was Nate under the boards who slapped the ball out of the rebounder's hand and forced the TO. Then when Frye got beat by Diop for the last rebound, Nate was there to disturb the shot though it still went in. He could really be an X-factor on the boards I think, it's tough for the big guys to handle a small scrappy presence like that at times.

Don't worry about Nate he'll be fine once he calms down

It's a catch 22. The reason why he's made it this far is because he plays with that crazy energy and is a little out of control. If he "calms down" like some of you suggest, it'll take away from his game more than it'll help.
Killa was pretty fair. Nate doesn't have the greatest basketball skills. His greatest asset is his energy and hustle which projects him as a spark plug off the bench. Hmmm, where have I heard all of this before?

When I say calm down I don't mean by calm down his play, I mean when he gets adjusted to being in the NBA. Give the kid a chance to get used to the feeling of playing with the Big Boys and I promise you will see the real Nate step on out. And you all are mentioning his shooting and passing but the dude can't be more than 5'6 and he grabbed 6 boards last night. He'll be fine just give him time like a nice bottle of wine.

This cat has played in all of three daggone "PRESEASON" games and we're critiquing his play already. Now i'm hearing he doesn't have the best basketball skills.
Incredible.
Can't we give him like ten games before we start picking his game apart....GEEZ.
Ohh boy, I feel a trade thread coming up before the years out for Nate. (being super sarcastic here).

pull him when he gets crazy. for about a minute. tell him - nate, focus. then put him right back in.
nate's a bulldog and a marvel. you slowly shape him but you don't break him. he's gonna take this team fr a ride. a rookie in his first home game doesn't do what he did in the 4th quarter against dallas unless he has it. enjoy the ride. it's gonna be bumpy at times but it's gonna be the talk of the league this year.

While he was very good in college... he was streaky. He has been playing two years of basketball only.. remember. He will be good, but he will stuggle at times. Be prepared.
