they can save up to $74mm on Houston retiring. Obviously they talked and agreed if H2O couldnt go by some point in camp he would be willing to hang it up and in doing so save the Knicks a boatload of cash.

Isiah's on a lucky streak but he's managed this situations VERY well:
Getting LB
Making the Curry trade
Houston retiring

He's turned the corner in terms of using the Garden $$ to really give us an advantage over other teams. Mo T, Baker and JJ were pretty lame uses of this resource, but Curry and LB are exactly the kind of situations you hope to take advantage of. He did and we are so much better for it.

On a side note what happened to that guy that played with the Pacers last year? What was his name? He sign somewhere else? Who's on the radar for SG now? Sato? Postell?

Fish, I understand your stance on the JJ signing particularly since right now he's doing his usual, i.e., not suiting up due to injury. But I think it's going to be real interesting to see if he fulfills what I'm picturing he can do for us this year. His banging could so complement Frye's finesse and Curry's no-D/boards. I see him being absolutely crucial to this team this year. By the end of the season I predict he'll be logging major minutes and we'll have a hella tandem with these 3 guys plus Jackie Blue manning the power positions. I also predict you will be leading the chorus of F*CK 'EM UP BIG MAN!

Postell is in Russia or something. Sato i think is STILL on the Spurs. Sato literally is a Wade clone - it's interesting how different situations allow for players to come out differently. If Wade was on the Spurs, they would not have let him blow up like he did.

Spurs cut him last year. Is he back as a training camp invite?

pretty sure he's out there. I would like to see a size/physical guy come in. With Nate/Crawford/Marbury/Q we have good scoring punch at the guard spot.

To me this is another reason you wait rather then bust your load on a guy like JJ. I think a TT for Foyle/Pietrus would look pretty damn good right about now.

Sato is 6'2" in socks, he's a nice player, but I don't think he has the size. I'd rather keep Matt Barnes, which would allow us to use Ariza at SG a little more.

Also, yeah, great job by Isiah. I remember when everyone was KILLING him for waiving JYD instead of Houston, now it looks like the club will save $95 million on JYD and Houston instead of just $40 million on Houston's luxury tax. It wouldn't have been classy to waive Allan, and a player like Allan for all his faults deserves to go out on his own terms. I always thought Houston would retire in October, and I'm guessing Isiah did too.

But Isiah is on a hell of a roll right now.

Hey Fishy, we already know that you view giving $5 mil per to a 7'1" role player as an utter disaster. You don't have to mention it in every thread. Time to move on in life.

I killed him, and lets face it, he got lucky. If Houston played in the season opener and THEN went out forever the Knicks would have been $72mm poorer. But you kill him for losing a gamble you give him props for winning one. He won one here... good job.
