I was just thinking, since HOuston knee issues we have been without a guy that can consistantly knock down the long ball with regularity....now that he has retired, we have a perfect opportunity to add someone to replace partly some of the things that he was known for. I know that the european league has some pretty good players that can flat out shoot the ball, and there may be an opportunity to get a player through free agency...is it really necessary to go out and look for a pure shooter or can we get by with what we have, that is given the fact that we will be playing an inside out game with our bigs? keep in mind that Q, Marb and Crawf can shoot the 3 but not well....

i think part of the reason to acquire Q was to replace houston's outside shooting. and to gouge them of their #21 pick. but anyway, Q is a reigning 3 point champ, i think the front office is happy with what we have.

still, i know what you're talking about. i love our young guys: frye, nate, lee, butler, maybe barnes now, but none of them are true outside marksmen. a dermarr johnson type would be nice, rather than getting a washed up guy who was a good shooter in his prime. not sure who's available.

i was a fan, too. i'm proud that the knicks gave him his chance back into the league, and hope he makes the most of it. looks like he's headed in the right direction.

I wouldn't mind having DerMarr but his high FG% was due to a lot of shots close to the basket. He's not really the pure jumpshooter that we need. His 3pt FG% was actually about the same that of Q, Steph, and Jamal last year.

who can we get??? I don't even care if it is a Center like Pat GArrity...We need a guy that can constantly shoot the 3s ESPECIALLY when the defense collapse on Frye or Curry...

how about Wesley Person?? He is an excellent shooter, and a decent defender, why not give him a chance? He would come very handy, especially when shorty is on the court as our PG....

One thing that we know for sure is that Larry doesn't believe in shooting 3s, but there are time in the game when it is necessary. Q and Marburry are more than capable of making the shot, but we need another pure shooter on our roster. Person fits that bill

I find that difficult to believe as I watch Prince, Wallace and Hunter just hoist 3s last season. I know people always say this stuff about coaches like Brown and Riley. But when you look at their history they usually have teams that love to throw up the 3.

It's very important to have a 3 pt shooter that can spread the floor. We have guys that can shoot it but noone that is consistent every night. Q is the closest but I don't think he is a feared shooter which could make things tougher on Eddy. I think that's why Zeke was trying to get Piatkowski earlier. This team definitely needs that type of player.

Most sharp shooters in the NBA play zero defense but there is still a place for them.

When on Earth was Isiah trying to get Eric P? Maybe Isiah should stick it to Larry Bird and convince Reggie Miller to come out of retirement.

Why not just get Larry Bird himself to come out of retirement?

because if he and david lee are on the court at the same time then it'll be like the episode where the 2 kirks from parallel universes met and it caused a cosmic disturbance that almost ended the universe.

why did we waive Douglas? 6'4" SG from summer league, had good, smooth J and interacted well with the Rooks. Seems like he could've got the kind of contract Barber got and at least got a shot in camp.

I do think the need for a shooter on this team will be answered when Q is healthy, when Jamal learns his role better and when the guards learn to use Channing better. Frye can hit the 18-20 footer at times, which can spread the floor. Nate needs to develop a runner, or else the defense will just collapse inside every time he gets the ball.

definitely that, but also our young legs have to cut to the hoop or spot up when nate drives. he's gonna get a ton of open shots for guys.
