I am sure some of you were at the Garden last night but it was really refreshing to see guys hustle on the defensive end. Lee is a workhorse who never takes a play off and didn't do a bad job on dirk, i really think this kid deserves to start at the 4 he does everything well and is a good player to put in there with steph....

Nate is going to need a little more time but brown is really going to turn him into a special player when his decision making improves look out, because his intesity and hustle are really going to make things happen on the defensive end....once French Frye adds a little wait he is going to be ok and should be a good role player with that jumper......

Should be moved: Crawford, Taylor, Rose

And Diop who was signed for nothing looked very good last night blocking shots and taking up space, Isiah can draft his ass off, but he has made some of the worst moves i have ever seen when it comes to free agent signing and acquisitions......

45 win team with a lot of promise down the road, its going to be an exciting season

I was saying that we should have grabbed Diop. But so what... lets talk more about these guys when the games start to count. Still, NY had brought Diop in. And James has some game in him. I'd take James over Diop. Who cares what the cost is at this point, both are backups. James to this point, for whatever it counts, is more proven than Diop. Cleveland let Diop go for nothing, nothing. So go on www.amazingcavs.com and bust on their message boards.

Agree with you on Diop, i was impressed. He looked like a different person without all that weight. A lot of movement. WHat did he block 5 shots? Still not a clue on offense, that's why it was comical that that "tip' went in at the end.

I still disagree about the JJ signing, though. At the time IT couldn't count on Curry, we knew Frye couldn't start at center, we had no center on the roster. JJ was the closest thing available, i think it made sense at the time. Plus I think he's going to be invaluable this year. Eddy's big but he doesn't hit people or protect the basket. ANd he's foul prone. I think JJ's gonna play a big role. Diop's got potential but he's still done nothing on an NBA court in a regular season game, never mind the playoffs like JJ.

Like picking stocks, players movement will yield some bad decisions. One must cut their losses and move forward, and in a way Isiah will do that. And he will make more bad decisions. All GM's do by the way which is why I gave Layden, and Isiah lots of time to work it out. Layden had two years, and Isiah is just coming up on his. BUt it really takes 4 years to judge a body of work.

I hated the James pick up, but at the time Diop was really not considered starting material and thats what we needed BADLY and it allowed us to get Nate and Q as a throw in! (in the end this is how the trade will pan out).

This is why I can forgive him about james, which was pre-Larry and of course pre Eddie.

Craw should be given at least 41 games to see how his remake is going to do. Larry is brutal on his points and this kid is getting an education and will look very awkward for some time in stretches.

Taylor was needed as a back up to KT or Sweets if they were traded and we did not do well in the draft at the position. It is early, but LEe and Channing are keepers and deserve time. BUt like I said, he was insurance. Rose I still thing will get time and help us in many ways.

Nate wanting to slam one off the boards is somthing the crowd would love, but he must mature fast to realize that just does not fly with most coaches. He will learn desipline and control or not play!

marvin, i agree with you 100% about everything you said. I wanted Diop and so did IT, for the LLE (1.1 million I think). Diop signed with Dallas for 1.7 Million remaining from Dallas's MLE.

when you have nothing you look for stop gap cheap options. Thats what most teams do. Steven Hunter, Diop, Swift, hell even Doleac were better options than JJ IMO. Yes he will be a good backup to Curry, but god forbid we have another shot at a good center via firesale or draft then the JJ deal just becomes the Spoon of centers.

Eh... water under the bridge. I just hope JJ gets healthy soon.

JJ will kill himself trying to keep up this pace. God help him if he has to play with Lee, Ariza and Nate. He can kiss his hammies goodbye.

hahaha, I was a lee supporter from day one, Hate to pat my own back, but others were lamenting over not getting gomes and blatche, I looked at lee's style of play and his abilities and knew he would be a great fit with what IT was trying to accomplish..

Jerome James will always be better the freakin Diop. I mean have u even heard what the call Diop compared to James. Big game versus Hakuna Matata.

Scott Layden was Knick GM 4 1/2 years. He was promoted to team president in 2001 but he started officially in 99.

seriously, Lee is 2 years and a reliable jumpshot away from being a borderline all-star. Imagine, if he gets picked in one spot less in the draft - second rounder - he gets paid a lot more money in the long run.

Yup he had nearly 5 years!!! It looks like the Knicks and most other teams just merged the GM and Team President roles. Please don't talk about Layden....for pete's sake!

Diop would have been much cheaper, and ISiah did indeed try and get him, however, at the time we needed a STARTING center, and out of that crop of available centers, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES COULD YOU DREAM OF HAVING DIOP AS YOUR STARTER.

Hindsight is 20/20, if we knew we were getting Curry we could've got Diop and locked up Ariza and still had some MLE left to play with. But like I said, hindsight is 20/20.

You hit on the correct point here. No way Isiah knew that he was definitely getting Curry. Jerome has at least proven he can be effective in spurts on the NBA level, especially when he can stay out of foul trouble. Diop's previous play only proved that his NBA career was on the cusp of being over. Did we overpay for Jerome? Of course we did, but he was our only realistic option at starting center at the point.

Jerome can get up and down the court pretty well. He was doing it in the Playoffs pretty well. He did play for the globetrotters you know.

Still......brother is gonna need people on the sideline with cups of gatorade on hand so hopefully dude doesn't pass the hell out.

I have to agree on this one...after seeing him play in college his game is similar to a poor man's Tom Gugliotta (in Minnesota)...and I know most of us would take that anyday out of our 4 spot.
