matt barnes is a keeper. isiah wants a guy from the scrap bin who can play, matt barnes can play. i dont know what the roster situation is, but if it comes down to it, I would hope allan retires and gives matt a spot because he is a solid back up ROTATION player

like the up tempo play

malik rose should not be in any of the rotations

mo taylor did not keep in top shape

in many ways this was a replay of last night with the exception of Q playing better. you can see good things can happen

i think isiah does much better with the draft than collecting vet players.

guys look just as lost on the o as last night

curry can score a number of points, but he just seems like he needs to learn a lot about fundamental basketball

it really doesn't matter if houston leaves or not, if we send a player or two down to the nbdl that will open up a spot for barnes. but i agree, barnes is a keeper. also, i agree with you on the malik situation.

no, players sent to the nbdl are on the inactive list still on the roster.

i don't think it will be a problem, though. if we buy out antonio davis we should be able to keep barnes. or, to keep the roster balanced, cut penny.

Yes, that is why I said that one of IT's goals should be to acquire more picks to replace the ones he traded.

btw, His draft acumen includes Lee.

It is not that Zeke is incompetent when it comes to signing FAs, he had no choice but to do the deals that he did, because there really wasn't anyone else available. He tried to deal for VC, but Toronto didn't want the assets that Zeke was willing to trade. Zeke used all of the right approaches in my opinion. We had a bunch of no name players that were old and overpaid, but now we have nothing but guys that teams around the league will be willing to trade for. To gain some, you have to lose some.

Frye's fundamantally sound, he just need to get used to East Coast basketball, Brown is changing everything Lute taught him at least a little and while he's limited by the foot, it will come in drips and drabs.

When the three of them are on the court with Ariza it's amazing to watch.

I am confident that we will be a much better team than last season's. We will definitely be better coached...that's for sure.

Anyone who's evaluating his ability to acquire free agents should include not only the MLE signings but also the free agents acquired via sign and trade (Jamal Crawford and Eddy Curry).

BTW, it looks like David Lee had a "Mike-Sweetney-type" preseason game, except with better defense. Someone remind me how *few* late 1st rd/2nd rd picks we reportedly sacrificed in the Curry deal to keep Lee!

The next trade we do will include Penny and either Mo or Rose. Please believe, once we trade those guys, we will get a couple of picks for either next season or the season after...Zeke is smart enough to know that picks are necessary...

He's also smart enough to NOT blindly acquire draft picks but rather to use assets to acquire them only when there's a deep draft. It can't be just a coincidence that two years ago in a pretty weak draft he traded away our only first round pick, while last summer in a strong draft he went out of his way to acquire two and have three total first round picks.

Nate is way too flashy and needs to focus on passing the ball. He makes alot of bad decisions with the ball and is not a good passer.

David Lee is a real player. He does everything well on O & D (minus jumpshooting which he didn't do), he is great to have on our team and I am really, really happy and impreesed by him, Isiah knew what he was doing. He is all over the place, and down the court on EVERY BREAK!! He is tough too!! Hes gotta work on his FT shooting.

Eddy Curry has got to stop fouling so much. It is good we have him and James, they will need each other....seems like they'll be using all 12 of their collective fouls. Curry will be really good by december, and will be the focal point of our offense.

Q looked good when he was in, under control and making his shots.

Crawford looked under control but didn't look very effective while he was in, but didn't hoist any crazy shots.

Channing Frye didn't get enough minutes, but looked good banging those 18-20 footers. Even off the glass ala Tim Duncan. Thats really impressive, the pick and pop/roll with Steph will be a serious weapon for us. Definitely not soft.

Jackie Butler looked promising as well.

Very few jumpshots were shot by us, lots of motion on the offense, lots of cutting and passing, I love it!!!!

Great intensity on defense, although lots of mistakes were made, lots of botched assignments, switches, and the backdoor was always open, but the intensity was WAAAY beter than last year.

I feel really good about this year.

Mo Taylor should be the last option. This guy is no shape at all. I don't want this guy taking mins from Frye or Lee.

How can you say Rose shouldnt be in the rotation?

TAYLOR shouldn't be thats for sure. Wow, what a waste of a player.

Penny should be cut.

Houston is useless.

I like both Butler and Barnes. Too hard to say right now, but I'd be leaning toward Barnes.

Like JC at the point. Don't like Marbury there though. He should stick to SG or be traded...offense too stagnant when he's controlling the ball.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I don't think you should take Marbs preseason performance that seriously. When the season starts he'll turn it up, and you'll see how he, and curry and frye play together very well.

Marbs is still, and by far, the best PG on the team.
