Newsday - Antonio Davis will be in New York and in a Knick uniform by tomorrow, according to Knicks president Isiah Thomas.

In the meantime, the Knicks began fining Davis yesterday an undisclosed amount for each day he failed to report to the team.

Davis was traded to the Knicks as part of the Eddy Curry trade. Davis reported to the Knicks training camp for one night after the trade, and then returned to be with his mother-in-law in Chicago who was undergoing surgery.

Davis made it clear that he is not happy to be going to the Knicks.

Good. Tough love from Isiah. We can't afford to lose Davis's services and expiring contract.

daily news mentioned that LB said Davis can go and that we are going to release him at the end of training camp although IT is pissed at the Bulls for playing such hardball and their smear tactics.

...we're still going to buy him out. I don't think Isiah is handling this very well.

If Frye can play as effectively for the rest of the preseason as it looks like he played yesterday and played in the summer league (particularly against Dwight Howard), I wouldn't mind seeing him start instead of AD.

what are you supoosed to do when a player under contract doesnt report? When you sign a monster deal its understanding that you may or may not get traded.

yeah, it's not like Davis is handling this well either. I think Isiah should just buy him out and move on. you don't want a player who doesn't want to be here. the whole fining him $300,000 a game just seems like a cheap way to get some money back on this deal.

Exactly; I think Isiah's handling the situation very professionally. This is nothing like the Shandon Anderson buyout where huge tension between Isiah and Shandon was made public in the media.

But whats the real reason he prefers not to play here?

huh? How is that relevant to whether Isiah is handling the situation well?

frye should be starting right now but i understand AD's role with us (and it's an important one for the immediate future - next 3 months), but after the trade deadline, if we can't move him, then we should waive him and start frye.

This sounds more like a Dolan issue to me. Especially if it's already been accepted that there will be a buyout in the days or weeks to come.

Yeah, I don't think AD plays too long for the Knicks and we don't really need him at this point--give the minutes to Frye.

I also feel that Davis will be a distraction. Release that man. He has the talent and ability to start but where's his head at? And will he whine about it? All that AD is a professional stuff is out the door as far as I'm concerned. So if we're trying to create a certain environment I believe AD will not be of any help to what we're trying to establish in that respect.

AD is being a bitch, this is basketball and guys get traded. He is wildly overpaid (and that is putting it mildly) and if he doesn't wanna play he can retire and say good pay to all of this years money. Screw him, we should buy him out for 50% or less, of his salary and he can do whatever he wants to do. I don't give a **** where he wants to play, this is the NBA.

I fully support IT on this one. I'm tired of players whining and bitching and getting to choose where they play. I think Zeke's handling it very professionaly too. Nothing at all like the Shandon situation. Hey he gets to learn from his mistakes too. Very businesslike.

Whether he buys him out or not is not the issue. Make him report first so at least players think twice about this whining shyt with the Knicks.
