the knicks just beat the nets 93 - 84, I know its just the preseason but it sure feels good beating the nets. hopefully this is a symbol of things to come. I just wish I knew how we did it....

So far it looks like they can't handle our size--Curry gets 16 in 13 minutes...imagine having JJ playing as well...

The best part of it is, we will continue to improve as our young players develop. The Nets, however, should resemble dying elephants in the coming years (aging Kidd and Wince). RJ and Nenad are good pieces, but once Kidd starts his decline, their team will look worse and worse.

Yeah this is very surpising, marbury h20 and JJ didnt play with injuries, and channing frye had 12 points! andrew bogut only had 9 in his preseason opener, Im starting to think that LB is a miracle coach.

Thanks!

Edit: I'm impressed with our rookies. All shot a high fg%, and nate had 3 dishes in limited action. I hope Richardson's 1-12 is not an indication of things to come though.

wow ariza had a monster game, it looks like everyone did pretty well, this game tells me, that if NJ gets hit with injuries this year than well be a much better team than them, VC RJ Kidd Krystic and Mark Jackson were all good but everyone other net seems to suck

Ariza is going to be a very good all around player. A real stat-sheet stuffer.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

my run down of the game:

Malik Rose and Quentin Richardson did their best John Starks impressions and combined shot 2 for 17. Malik did have 6 rebounds in 16 minutes, which was nice, but pulled a KT with zero assists out of the post, combined with his shooting percentage makes me think that he does not know how to pass out of a double team, which is terrible for a veteran player.

Q Rich did at least have 2 assists and 2 steals. I wonder what happenned with the 1 for 12 outing...

Glad to see Penny can get 20 minutes of burn and contribute. At least there is a vet that LB likes on our squad. And bump up Penny's trade value as more than just an expiring contract. Penny will be useful in case a slew of injuries hit this team at any point, since Penny can play 1, 2, 3.

Glad to see J crawford not chucking up a ton of shots.

I liked Eddy Curry leading the team with high percentage scoring, 5-7 from the field in 13 minutes. He also upped his rebounding per 40 minutes with approximately 12 rebounds per 40 based on grabbing 4 rebs in 13 minutes. He did have 3 fouls in 13 minute4s though which means that we will need Frye and Big Game and maybe even Mo Taylor and Malik Rose to hold down the Backup center spot some games. Hopefully Curry can get back in the groove and keep the fouls to a minimum. But if he was smacking around the Nets, by all means, especially if they were just out there running their mouths... and we've got a game versus them tmw...

Bench:

Mo Taylor got 2 steals in 14 minutes which seems solid. He scored a couple of points and grabbed a few boards. If he can maintain this level of consistency off the bench for the season, we will be satisfied with him.

Nate Rob - 4 TOs in 22 mins is a lot, but he is learning. Nice to see a well rounded stat-sheet from him.

Frye - 18 minutes, 5-9 shooting is solid. No turn overs, 3 fouls, a few rebounds, assists, and a steal is solid work in his first outing. Maybe IT was right about Frye being better than Bogut. How did Bynum do again in his first preseason game with the Lakers? exactly.

Matt Barnes - seemingly solid play off the bench at SF in 12 minutes. Will probably not get much burn during the regular season unless injuries strike. Look for him to play a few more minutes tmw night in the Nets rematch.

Nice to see Trevor get a lot of PT. 29 minutes, 4-6 shooting, getting to the FT line, 6 rbs, 4 assists, a complete game. We just need some steals and blocks from Trevor, which will come, since he is a nice sized athelete at the 3 spot. Trevor is still the youngest Knick at 19 I believe.

David Lee - Sweetney, we hardly knew you. 18 minutes, 4-5 shooting. 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals. ZERO personal fouls. Goodbye Mike Sweetney. Please stay away from Krispy Kreme in Chi-Town.

Butler - 17 minutes, 3-6 shooting. Goodbye Mike Sweetney part 2. 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block. Again, goodbye Fatboy Sweets.

A glaring problem is the low FT percentage at 63%. LB will not stand for that. We could have blown the game open if we had hit the FTs... Riley insisted on made FTs. Those make the difference between wins and losses. Playoffs and an early summer vaycay.

caseloads: I saw bogut play the other night and I was not that impressed, I know he may be a good player when it is all said and done, but he looked like a scrub, forcing up wild looking hooks, getting pushed off the blocks, I wasn't impressed at all..

maybe it was just an off night, players have them. as do teams sometimes. we do have some good freethrow shooters, so not to worry. nate, steph, craw, frye, penny, all good freethrow shooters.
i like the stats, wish i could have seen the game.
