According to a Houston radio station (610 a.m.) the press conference for the Glen Rice deal has been held back. It is speculated that health concerns have arisen.

Bad news for those of us who liked the trade.

this is not good news, only thing worse than a failed trade is an unwanted disgruntled injured player returning to your team...

Hmmm, the most recent now is that the doctors are just waiting on the foot specialists who are "dotting all the eyes and crossing all the tee's"...the report that Rice failed is premature.

I feel that because Rice hasn't officially failed his physical, the deal will be completed again once Rice passes the physical completely. Either way, there's no way Rice is returning to new york.

the funniest thing is that the player who gets hurt most is Hardaway because eisley will return to dallas, and Tiny tim is left in the cold.LOL!!

From Insider

News that the Rockets had postponed a press conference announcing the arrival of Glen Rice sent several NBA teams into a panic this afternoon.

The Rockets, in a statement by spokesman Tim Frank, said physicians were taking longer than expected to examine results of Rice's physical.

A source close to the Rockets said that Rice's foot injury was worse than the Rockets expected but that in the end it was "no big deal" and probably wouldn't kill the trade. According to the source, Rocket doctors ordered more medical records and were waiting to review them before giving the final go-ahead.

In nothing else, this was a big PR mistake by the Rockets. Fans were already wary of the under-achieving Rice. News of the "canceled" press conference caused a Houston talk radio report this afternoon claiming Rice had "failed" his physical.

However, the deal is still likely to go down. Rice, who suffers from plantar fasciitis, said his foot is not 100 percent but he can play through the pain. If the Rockets don't consummate the deal, the biggest loser will be Shandon Anderson. Anderson, who did a sign-and-trade worth $42 million dollars that would be voided, sending the two sides back to square one.

Like i said, the deal is likely to stay the same so lets just leave it at that unless anything else develops. I like what we got and i think we improved. Next task is to deal ward for a decent center.

Agreed, now that the trade happenned already, I want the knicks to move on and deal Ward for something. I know that Layden has a fixiation on slow-white centers heading back to his Utah days, so expect him to abandon Foyle trade talks or the notion thereof, and completely forget about the fact that Jahidi White (the Beast of a Center that he is, even though he is only 6'9") is on the block and pursue Brad "Pass me a Heineken" Miller from Chicago. Then he'll presure VG to start Miller at Center and camby at PF, forgeting about KT. Damnit, why did Layden have to score not one, not two, but 3 slow, crappy white centers in the Patrick Ewing "king kong" trade? We never needed or wanted Travis Knight or Luc Longley or Vladamir Stephania or their long contracts!

That trade was really crappy, even if we did get Shandon and Howie E. from it in the long run. Oh, and Camby did get a chance to develop.

Hindsight is 20-20 though.

Why didn't we get expiring contracts as cap filler in that deal?! Damnit.

I'm betting Layden will turn to his Utah buddies once again and try to trade ward for greg ostertag. Just a thought.

NY Daily News said both the coach and GM of the Rockets have approved, but they are waiting on the team doctors. Right now it looks like the trade should stay the same and thats what i'm hoping. This is nerve-wrecking, but i think we will be able to keep Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley. As long as Rice can play, which he did for 75 games last year, then he should remain in Houston.
