Nets not ticked by Knick talk

After so many laughable blowouts and a first-round sweep that will be best remembered for Tim Thomas' whining, the Knicks had become a boring afterthought here in Nets' camp.
Even when the Knicks dominated headlines for a week with their courting and hiring of Larry Brown, Richard Jefferson says he paid attention to it about as much as what the Atlanta Hawks were doing.
"I was more excited about who we were getting and what was going on with our franchise," Jefferson said. "I wasn't looking at what was going on across the river. It's funny, when you're kind of on top or you've been the front-runner for so long, you aren't necessarily looking at people behind you. I'm looking at what's going on with San Antonio and Miami. That's not a knock on (the Knicks) by any means.
"I think the Knicks will be a playoff team and they'll be right there in the hunt in the Atlantic Division. But you can't worry about everyone behind you or you're not going to get any sleep."
That's not to say the Nets will be sleeping on the Knicks this season.
"I believe they are a playoff team," said Jefferson, who will see the new Knicks tonight for the first time in the preseason in Bridgeport, Conn. "There's no doubt. I believe there's going to be some more fire back in our rivalry, some excitement back and forth. And it's good for the area, good for basketball."
Since Kidd arrived in 2001, the Nets are 17-3 against the Knicks, including 2004's first-round sweep. So any change has to be a good one for the Knicks when it comes to playing the Nets.
"He's going to have that team ready, playing hard," Jason Kidd said of Brown, who nearly recruited Kidd to Kansas. "They have the weapons, the capabilities of making the playoffs, of being a good team. There will be a lot of improvement from the Knicks."
But can Brown do for the Knicks what Kidd has done for the Nets?
"When I first got here they were the bosses," Jefferson said of the Knicks. "We were trying to chase them, we were doing everything we can. They had been in the playoffs 15 consecutive years, they were signing players left and right, one of the highest payrolls, everything was golden. Then it changed."
Geez man....I just wanna slap the **** out of RJ sometimes. You'd think he has 5 championship rings. I just want the Knicks to destroy the Nets by 50!!! I hope Q, or one of the Bigs dunks right on his head. Even Better I want to see RJ try to get to the basket with Knick James in the lane!!!
Cocky bastard!!! He's worse than Kobe.
