"October 12, 2005 -- CHARLESTON, S.C. — The inevitable is unfolding in the sad saga that is Allan Houston's comeback.
Houston was dealt a major setback when the Knicks shut him down yesterday after he practiced for less than a week. A medical retirement seems a matter of time.

Houston experienced pain in his left arthritic knee Monday and begged off doing drills. Yesterday, team doctor Lisa Callahan decided Houston needed to rest until at least next week. Houston isn't sure he'll play any of the seven-game preseason schedule that begins Saturday against the Nets.

Bubbly after the first two days of camp, Houston was downcast yesterday, more resigned to his fate than ever before."

Houston will play. He already said in the summer that he will be healthy to play another year. Or he could've misjudged his recovery just like he misjuged not needing a surgery.

it was all in the works people.

the allan houston rule should have been used on h20. but it wasn't b/c they struck a deal that allan would show up to camp, do a little stuff, and then ultimately retire before the season started. not only does it save the knicks MORE money than using the amnesty rule, but the $$$'s may come off the cap and they may even get another MLE out of it.

LB - in the works since may/june
curry - in the works since june
h20 - in the works since the cba was put in place

knicks 05/06 - all conspiracy

I'm tired of this drama. I wish Allan could come back and play because then we would have a for sure three point threat and a vet who can perform down the strech, but this is getting tiresome. I know he wants his 40 mil for the next two years but come on man give us a break. I'm sure Dolan will still pay him and give him a cushy desk job. We could use the extra roster space on someone who can actually contribute. If Allan would of played last year Steph would of led the league in assits.

Allan has his money, he should probably hang them up. I know he loves basketball, but he needs to realize that after basketball he will need to walk.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Someone informed me that they overheard early this morning on 880am radio that because of the setback, Allan is seriously considering retirement before the start of the season..

Do not know how much truth is to that...

If I was a betting man, I'd say this is the end for Houston. Which is really too bad. People don't realize how big of an effect he would have if he could even give us 15 minutes a night at the end of quarters.
He would have been one of the best leaders on the team. A healthy Houston and Marbury backcourt would've been the best in the league. Oh well, better not to dream of things that you can't have.

It's sad to see.

I'm sure it's tough to leave the lifestyle. Houston is supposed to be so into the church. It should be easier for him......retire from basketball and try to do somethign good with his fame and money.

I like Alan Houston, but I would love for him to retire immediately. For 3 years he has been a big detriment to our squad. This year, we really don't need to have him around to retard our progress. He has been a good Knicks, but the time has come for him to go. I want our young boys to get a chance. With him on the roster, it will take an opportunity from guys like Lee, Nate, Crawff, etc. Please retire Houston, do us all this favor.

I would agree with you, I like Allan H. as well, but his time has passed, we can't be waiting around for him to get healthy any longer. Retire and let the organization get some money back to use for the future. Our young guys needs to play.

I am just so sick and tired of the way the owner has treated Houston. He sure as hell didn't treat Ewing the same way, and in my opinion, Ewing has earned Dolan a lot more money than Houston ever did.

Its actually the Jewish controlled media and entertainment business sympathizing with Spike Lee and the black movement to gain favor to take on the hispanic and asian commnunity. By cornering the minority market, we can drive out the white bread wasp. Once done, and once KT is traded, nothing will stop us except Allan Houstan's retarded pathetic comback and his retarded knees. This abortion of the god loving carmel colored mans attempt to play basketball has burdened the knick fan for centuries and prohibits us from moving forward unitl he has stops this charade of a comeback. "kill the MotherPhucher! wipe his DNA from the existance to free the shanckles of emerging talent base in order to take our place amung the great ones and claim our destiny as the atlantic division champions. Then, and only them will we be able to exhaust our burdan of damnation and cleanse the bowels of our self esteem and testonteronation of our spermatic generation enabling the fluids of our intestinalitude to flow free, relieving the retentive penile funtionality of our libido(s) to erect the testicular fortitude of our playoff intent.

Pictures from training camp show him running. I think he will be fine to walk.
