Blazers Rejected Knicks Attempt At Ratliff, Miles
9th October, 2005 - 6:50 am
New York Post - The Knicks were re buffed by the Blazers in their attempt to ob tain Theo Ratliff and Darius Miles, according to Peter Vecsey of the New York Post.

Portland may have been a bit tempted to trade Ratliff, had Isiah offered Tim Thomas instead of Penny Hardaway. Then again, it's hard to believe Nate McMillan would consent to dealing his best shot-blocker and rebounder when much-improved backup Joel Przybilla can't be re-signed until the summer.

Miles is being counted on to carry the team's offense and, therefore, is untouchable.

Al Harrington is another tantalizing target of the Knicks, to name one of about 20 teams. The arrival of Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams figure to make Isiah's former pet Pacer largely extraneous, yet it's doubtful the Knicks have fair compensation to exchange.

In view of the Knicks' lack of leadership and delinquent defense at both guard slots (and beyond), it's logical to expect Eric Snow to show up sooner than later now that Eddy Curry is on board. His care-taking of the ball alongside Allen Iverson worked wonders for Larry Brown and it stands to reason the veteran, currently competing with Damon Jones for the Cavaliers' starting point guard position, would be perfect opposite Stephon Marbury. Snow's straight-forward style would also accelerate the team's progress in adapting to Brown's personality. [READ]

Maggette On The Block?
9th October, 2005 - 11:10 am
NY Post - Clippers sources inform the New York Post that they've been quietly entertaining offers for Corey Maggette.

Word has it he's supposedly not smart enough to remember Mike Dunleavy's plays that don't have him finishing the play.

Chris Wilcox is also said to be available. [READ]

Successful Scenario
Due to New York and L.A. Clippers being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and L.A. Clippers had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We are set, at least for now, so why bother with more deals? We still don't know how good we are, Larry has to make this team work hard and if he does we could very well be an Elite team soon. Isiah has done a heck of a job! We are deep everywhere and most of the players are young and promising. The vets' contract will soon be expiring. We don't need another deal, we need a training camp and everybody on the same page. Thats all...

We do that trade we don't get Crawford......and if we have Miles, we prolly don't draft Ariza....and if Craw is still on the Bulls maybe Curry doesn't force himself onto the Knicks....

however, I am no magic 8 ball, I could be wrong.

How is tradin for Ratliff making any sense? We already have 3 centers in Curry, James and Frye. Even if Frye plays PF, why do we need a 3rd center? Are we just gonna pay James to clean everybody's plates after dinner by lickin them clean?
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I don't think he was trading FOR Ratliff. I think he was trading for Darius Miles and WILLING to take back Ratliff's contract.

I'd like Miles here, but it would make that wing position a little crowded dont you think?

Ariza, Q, H20, D Miles.

just a weee bit. I'm pretty stoked about the current team:
marbs/nate/penny
Crawford/Houston/penny
Q/Ariza/Penny
Curry/Rose/MoT
James/Frye

Unless we are getting an all star (all star = made the game last year) then I'm pretty dang happy.

let me be the first to say, TWO KNICKS WILL MAKE THE ALL STAR GAME THIS YEAR!!!

Great, curry comes here to play with his best friend crawford and then we trade his azz out of here 3 days later. It ain't happening. Bad idea.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Yea- I think rather than tweak the roster, if the team is going to get better, it needs all star type talent, not more marginal players with question marks (Miles).

And why on earth would we add snow to this roster? We've got Nate who I have a feeling is going to demand minutes, Craw and Marbs who all can play the point. Unless cleveland is taking back a bad contract, why would we do any kind of deal for snow? and isn't he done?

What we need is to trade for a rebounding monster. Either that or get Rose & Lee to focus on hitting the boards HARD. If you look at Seattle they were able to get it done with James, Potnepiko, Evans, Fortson, Radmonovic. And even played Lewis as PF at times. Evans and Fortson rebounding ability and all those wide bodies controlled the paint. We have the wide bodies. Lee has the athletism, leaping ability and hustle to be a big rebounder. Rose has allways been a good rebounder we need them to focus on that and hit the boards hard along with Q & Ariza at SF. I don't know what Taylor is usefull for other than scoring though we have enough of that. Maybe Butler can work his way in by rebounding.

Knicksfan's got it right.

I think at some point,

We have to stand pat.

No one expects to generate a championship caliber team

In so short a time.

How will we know what we have until we see what LB can do?

However, we could use playoff experience,

Since around here, making the playoffs is a foregone conclusion.

Outside Allan and Penny (neither of whom will see time)

Who even knows what the second round looks like?

Snow is a scrub. Wouldn't sacrifice anything we have for'm.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...
