And the Knicks' trade for Eddy Curry on Tuesday, a trade that was finalized when Curry passed his physical on Friday, like nearly every other deal Isiah Thomas has made since coming to the Big Apple, is a classic example of the risk and reward being completely skewed.
"The Bulls got 22.3 points per 40 minutes from Curry, who also shot 53.8 percent from the floor, and will have to replace that with newly acquired Michael Sweetney and Tim Thomas."
got it? 53.8%.
"...Sweetney shot even better than Curry at 53.1 percent..."
Hmm. Wrong. 53.8% > 53.1%...
Anyway... so the Bulls doctors cleared him... the Knicks doctors cleared him. So where is the risk?
Also... what exactly did the Knicks give up that was soooo great for Curry? Tim Thomas? Not exactly a staunch rebounder... Sweetney? Not exactly a proven superstar either.
If you consider there are only like 4 players his size or taller than outscored him (Shaq, Ilgauskas, Yao Ming, Jermaine O'Neal)... it says something about his potential value. He's not even getting a max salary... Certainly he should be worth more than a complete chump like Foyle, right? There are other players more overpaid than him.
