The Paperclips just waived Frank. Its too bad we have a glut of guards, i would have really loved to have him back. Maybe this Jermaine Jackson moving do something. I want Frank here a lot more than Snow.

im suspecting frank williams does not care much about basketball--or he has a mental issue--or some kind of poor behaviour we dont know about--

Yeah I'm sorry to say that I think there's gotta be something going on with Franky. I'd still like Isiah to take a look, but he must have some kind of issues not to stick with that talent level and size.

I think when he got traded from the Knicks that did it mentally for him. Sad thing because he was only in the NBA for 2 or 3 years

We all love Frank, but if you can figure a way that he can try out for the team, make the team and then manage to snag some minutes and make a contribution, then you're a better man than I. We just don't have the room for him. We need some more power up front, especially if Antonio goes Bye Bye.

I would imagine it has more to do with Shaun Livingston and Sam Cassell than Frank... I think he would be a decent pickup
You know I gonna spin wit it

those seem like reasonable speculations. Something's seriously wrong.

getting cut on the first day of training camp is not good. Manytimes these guys are bought in to just practice the contract guys and showcase the talent. Maybe they get reffered to another team. It builds the resume.

FIrst day means you just ain't in shape and obviously not serious about it.

That, or he asked to be released and got an offer to play overseas or in another camp.

We have no need for him here. Its clear Isiah has other guys he'd rather bring in like we had last year.

Hey, if he can go overseas and possibly earn a couple of million then that's great for him. He can make a little career there and stay away from the pressures of the NBA, but the key there, as it is here, is for him to just stay in shape. If he can't, then he's just screwing himself no matter where he goes. But either way, I loved him when he was here, there's no longer room for him on the team, and we and he needs to move on, so I wish him the best of luck.

Game over for Frank. He got cut because he was having too many migranes

Frank Williams' latest NBA chance lasts one day

Thursday, October 6, 2005

BY JOURNAL STAR STAFF

LOS ANGELES - Frank Williams' bid to make the Los Angeles Clippers lasted less than one day.

Williams - the all-America point guard from Manual High School who was the 2001 Big Ten Player of the Year at Illinois - was released Tuesday by the Clippers. Williams was one of six free agents signed Friday by Los Angeles to fill out its roster for training camp, which started Monday.

The Los Angeles Times reported Williams missed most of Monday's workouts because of migraine headaches. Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said the cut, highly unusual this early in camp, was necessitated by roster needs.

"The company line was they needed a small forward," said Joe Stevens, who covers the team for the Long Beach Press-Telegram. "But what really happened was he couldn't get up and down the court. He tried to run a couple laps (Monday), then spent the rest of the morning in the bathroom throwing up."

Peoria native Ralph Lawler has done radio and television broadcasts for the Clippers since the team moved to southern California in 1978. The 1957 graduate of Peoria High was at Monday's workout and said Williams stuck out for all the wrong reasons.

"He was just woefully out of shape," said Lawler. "They were doing full-court wind sprints and he was a half-court or more behind. I turned to somebody next to me and said: 'I could beat that guy.'

"For whatever reason, he clearly wasn't in condition to enter an NBA training camp."

This is the latest professional setback for the 1998 Mr. Basketball of Illinois. Taken in the first round by Denver in 2002, Williams was traded on draft night to the New York Knicks. There, he languished on the bench most of his rookie year, but gained some notoriety in a first-round playoff series against the New Jersey Nets.

In his second season with New York, Williams worked his way into the starting lineup and played well during a three-game starting stint in December. But shortly thereafter, new Knicks general manager Isiah Thomas made a trade for All-Star point guard Stephon Marbury, a Coney Island native and New York fan favorite.

Williams was back on the bench, and later traded to Chicago in the deal that sent Jamal Crawford to the Knicks. Williams spent most of last season on Chicago's inactive list and was given his outright release at the end of the season.

Williams could not be reached for comment.

He's had some setbacks. He may be overly sensitive, or maybe he really isn't that into basketball anymore. You could argue that he had a serious of tough breaks, but none of them can account for not being in shape for training camp.

If he was passionate about basketball, he'd stay in shape, play backup, sit on the bench, whatever. He's got some skills.

By comparison, Rick Brunson has been in the NBA for 8 years now...
