I think we may be overpaying him as well, however, as discussed over and over, centers get more money.

I don't think we're overpaying Curry? Did we overpay to get him? Yes with draft picks and the fact that we're paying the luxury tax on AD's huge salary. That said, it could still be worth it.

If he lives up to his potential we win titles. Priceless.

- four years, $36m for a young center who's shown flashes of dominance? I don't think that part is overpaying.

Adonal Foyle and Erick Dampier are getting very similar contracts as Curry's.

The differences:

  • Dampier and Foyle are both 30 yrs old

  • These two have virtualy no offensive games, but are decent rebounders and shot-blockers

  • Curry is only 22 and has the potential to be a dominant post player

  • Curry needs to work on his defense and rebounding. But he has the body and great coaching staff to improve in these areas.

  • As long as Curry is cleared to play, he's a bargain from the Knicks standpoint.

If I was Atlanta, IF I knew he was healthy, I wouldve easily offered him the maximum salary. Think about the C market--what it cost for guys like Dampier Dalembart for the Hawks wouldnt Curry make more sense than Johnson? IF he is healthy, the Knicks got a reasonably large discount to market IMHO.

    hows that?
    Look at recent contracts:
    Adonal Foyal
    Dampier
    Chandler
    Dalembert
    Curry
    Raef
    Rasho
    MLE guys: Blount, JJ

I would actually say that Curry's deal is the BEST of ALL those guys.

Show me a starting center with a better contract than Curry thats not in his rookie deal.

and I guess here is the thing

he ain't getting this contract unless he passes the physical and given this pre-existing condition, it is obvious the knicks are going to be thorough.

I think I am starting to like this deal.
