Highly doubtful. But could you imagine this line-up with his sharpshooting skills on the perimeter putting up 20 ppg. Come on, someone up above please cure that knee

I hate Houston....but.....

If dude comes in and flat out beats Craw for the starting 2 spot then it's all good. Craw can resume his role as Houston's back-up. Nate can get in where he fits in.

Timmy is not here so Q can start with Ariza getting minutes behind him. Penny will get in where he fits in.

Go Knicks!!!

at best, Houston is going to be a marginal role/spot player for this team- no way he ever plays more than 20 mins per game.

He'll come in to defeat zones, end of quarter last minute type deals.

He was a defensive liability when healthy before his knees went- he is three years older and probably a lot slower.

I don't like Houston either but you can never have to many sharpshooters with scoring abilities on this team. Stop the hate

You can never have too many? If houston isn't healthy we don't have any!

BTW- I do not hate houston- I'm just trying to give a realistic scenario I see developing.

Well, apparently he's practicing with the teamm so if he can get through training camp with little to no bumps in the road, then maybe that's a good sign, but I don't see him being a 20 ppg scorer again. Not with all the talent we have at least. I can, however, see him beating out Craw and Q for the starting spot, but we'll also see how bad LB wants Marbury to be the starting 2g. If that's the case, look for Craw and Marbury to start. Where the heck does this leave Q though?

even if houston plays 15-20 mins a night - you play him with curry. the opponents would HAVE to guard him - no way around it. in fact, if you look at our lineup, opponents really can't double off anybody.

I was actually responding to enysprees, "I hate Houston but......" line. I think it's consensus that not many people love the guy but I don't think that's relevant. I do agree with you. If he comes back he will probably be a 20 minute per game guy with the ability to stretch the defense like few in the league. Love him or hate him, this does nothing but help us. With the added size in the middle and the ability to block a few shots his defense becomes less of a factor. But with him back competing on even the 20 minute level would make us a very tough out in the East. I have never rooted harder for Allan in my life. He is a definite X factor.

If Houston can give the Knicks 25 minutes a game then that will be absolutely gigantic. It seems that alot of people on this board have forgotten just how much of a force Allan Houstonw as before he injured his knee a few years ago. If he comes back healthy with the roster as it is the Knicks are looking extremely good, there will be penetration and kickout by Marbury and there will also be doubleteams in the post against Curry where he can kick it out to Houston AND Q. The Knicks will be a offensive wreckingball.

Good post, I agree, I think people forgot about Allan quickly. I say if he's healthy and is only giving you 20-25 minutes per game that means that we are probably doing pretty well.

As much as I would love to see Allan retire, if he can provide this squad with a good 20 minutes per night for a full season, I will be happy to have him around. Now that Kurt is no longer here, and TT is no longer a Knicks, I am pretty happy with what we have.

Marb, Q, Reezy, Curry and James is still our best lineup. However, I do believe that based on Larry's philosophy, our lineup will be: Marb, Houston, Q, Curry and James...but that may change especially if James is not producing, look for Frye to move into the starting PF role with Curry at the Center position. Curry and Frye will be much more productive than Curry and Chandler...because Frye is a much better offensive player than Chandler

As long as Allan can hit his set jumper every once in a while (what else is he good for?) and doesn't get in the way, we'll be ok with him in the lineup.

I'm too happy about the Curry deal to even give Allan Houston much thought right now.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

houston playing anything more than 15mins per game means Houston missing another 62 games this year because he never corrected his knee problems. They get well enough to play on but then they deteriorate with every minute he's putting putting weight on it

Houston was only a 20pt scorer because the team was awful and the erractic spree was the only other guy getting touches. When we were a good team he was good for 14-17pts per game. He is what he is. He's a jumpshooter. He is NOT a 20pts per game superstar

exactly Houston can actually play the role of playing next to a dominant bigman he should've been playing 6yrs ago, but instead our incompetent management choose to make him our franchise player at 7yrs $100mm! Not allowing us to acquire that bigman for 6yrs who would've made his jumpshooting effective

i say they play allan 30-35mins a game, he can't take it, he retires, plus tt is gone, plus penny comes off the books. that's roughly 42mil off the books. jk, i like allan and have too much respect for him and what he's done for the knicks.
by the way, has everyone forgoten about Q? i hear he's a pretty good f'ing shooter. not to mention the fact that craw's only problem is he shoots too much off the dribble. he can definitely fit into a rip hamilton role, but with a shot out to 3point range. houston can only make them that more deadly from the outside in modest 15-20min role.
Could you imagine if Houston comes back full strength.
