Allan was our best player [which isnt a great thing] 2 years ago. Allan Houston has spent most of the last 2 seasons dealing with a chronic knee condition. Allan will be 35 years old in roughly 6 months--it makes no common sense to say he is our best player, or that we will be able to rely on him to sustain a certain level of play IF at all. Most guys in the nBA are done by 34-35--especially on the wing--Allan is different in that he is a sizeable jump shooter who was never athletic and of course he can help, but is it in the best interests of the club to somehow think he will be a centerpiece on a club that wins it all? No--so maybe we should count on him MUCH less and make sure others get the time.

well counting on him to be ready to go was isiah's #2 fault last year. (#1 being hiring lenny wilkens). he waived shandon and andre barrett and thought penny would be around as well. so i'm hoping he learned his lesson, and it looks like he did b/c we have marbury, craw, Q, nate, and penny - that's some decent depth there. so what they say about h20 is not what they are expecting.

he's toast. i think everybody knows it but they are going to let him quit, not force him out.

Briggs, you said with Penny, if he's healthy and able to contribute, he should be welcomed with opened arms. It's pretty much the same exact situation with Allan. If he can make a contribution, he should be given the opportunity to compete for a spot and it's good that way. Give the youngin's something to compete for. If they can't beat out Allan, that's their fault. Not the orgs, or LBs. It's theirs. B/c if we know one thing, Larry plays guys who actually deserve to play and have earned their time. So if Houston is playing hard, let him play. He he can barely move, he needs to retire. Simple as that. None of us know what's going on with him right now. LB does and says he'll be ready by training camp on Tuesday. Therefore, lets just wait and see what happens.

absolutely if he can play he should, but the way they are making it sound like hes our best player a pivotal piece is just false now.

There's no doubt he's NOT our best player and the last time he WAS our best player was the day before Marbury got here. I think maybe LB could have been challenging Stephon? And take note, you heard NO ARGUEMENTS from Isiah about that. I think Isiah and LB agree that Marbury needs a fire lit under his arse and if he starts Fing around he's not gonna be here much longer.

Houston is nowhere close to being what he was 3 years ago, but if he can compete, there's NOTHING false about the fact that it would be a monumental bonus if he can come in and play and contribute positively. The Knicks wouldn't have gone out and gotton Q, and heck, even Nate, if they were still relying on Houston.

its a shame that all of us, well most of us knew Allan was done but the GM of the New York Knicks was banking on him being healthy and now so is our coach.

What evidence do you have supports that? NONE. They didn't say he's our best player this year. They said it would be great to have him back, but look what they did over the Summer. They got Q, they told season ticket suscribers like djsunyc that they should consider him GONE. If anything, he's been counted OUT a little too much, and it has taken him out of the microscope. And if he somehow, someway makes some shape of a comeback, it would be big, no matter how you look at it. But they, I, or most of the fans haven't relied on it.

they also said that LAST YEAR our best player went down...if houston was healthy as he said, it would have been close.

But nobody is saying he is the best player now, nobody (show me the link and/or quote)...that argument is moot.
