we will trade marbury for paul peirce.

reason: we need a player who can do it all. pierce is a star who can take over games and very talented. a perrenial all-star. we have too many guards already. with this trade, we can move q-rich to the 2-spot and slide crawford to the 1. the celtics are tired of piece especially after last years playoff debacle. they need a point guard and this is a much better offer than the proposed andre miller deal.

as much as I like Marb, I would do this trade. Don't think Dolan would though... too much $$ made from his presence in NYC.

Pierce is talented but a jerk and the ultimate Diva.

Marbs rep is not the greatest, but this guy really take it at a whole new level!

No jerks please.

That (Jazzy's, not Dido's -- Pierce is a stud. Boston's not dumping him for Fugazy garbage.) is one of the more intelligent trade suggestions I've read on this board. Both teams get something valuable. Both teams wind up better balanced. Don't think it will happen because of what Martin says ... we've invested a whole lot in Marbury and trading him would be admitting we made a mistake ... but I think it would be a good deal for both teams.

I wouldn't go near this trade. IMO Marbury is so much more talented a PG than Craw it's not even funny. I think we'd be a disaster with Craw at the point.

Instead I say let LB do his thing with these two. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns them into as effective a duo as Billups/Hamilton.

really marv? wow. i think crawford at the point would actually be a good thing. cut down his long range bombing, allows him to use that handle that i don't ANYBODY in the nba can guard, and use that height advantage to get some passes off.

yes, marbury is more talented but marbury's strength is scoring and passing off of his offense where as i think crawford's role at the point would make the pass as his first option and look to score if he can't move the ball.

but i don't think we'll have a clear cut PG/SG seperation here - both of them will play both positions depending on the situation.

i think you have to look at it from a coaching perspective. i think pierce is more of a larry brown type than a marbury ( and not only because pierce came from kansas uni.). pierce plays well on both ends. though he is not a stopper, he does put forth more effort than marbury. marbury has taken a lot of flack for his defense and some of it is warranted but he is a decent defender who can get steals. nevertheless pierce is better on the defensive end. sometimes we have to admit a mistake. this is by far the best deal we can make with marbury to a team who is in pretty much the same predicament. pierce and marbury are divas but pierce does so much more. the only way this does not happen is because they are in the same division and very rarely do you trade your superstar to another rival ( marbury would torch us four times a year). i think crawford and robinson will shore up the point guard position well enough. besides pierce is good enough to handle some point guard duties. the only reservation i have is hardiness. marbury is a resilient player who doesn't get injured often ( knock on wood). pierce has his share of ailments the past couple of years that had him sitting out ( the reason for that could be he was asked to do too much).

dj, i think all the things you just said about craw are what he needs to do at sg. he could be an extremely effective sg. if he played the way you just mentioned he would indeed be playing like richard hamilton. craw had a great stretch toward the end of last season when he was playing the sg position in this manner. its a totally different story imo from saying he could do this at pg. my prediction - remove marbs from this team and make craw youir pg and everybody would be crying for a long long time about what a blunder of a move that was.

I don't mind this trade if we make Craw the pg, but what do we do with Q then? He's gonna be playing for 10 minutes a game probably. We'd have to trade him. I do love the idea of having a real large backcourt. Crawford 6'5" and Pierce 6'7" with Ariza being the eventual small foward at 6'9". Pretty good. But lately, I haven't been in the trade Marbury mode, so I still don't mind keeping him.

Starbury stays home in NY... IMO he'll be great under Larry Brown's tutelage.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I agree. and I think this team will need stephon more than Pierce. We have Q and Craw. What we need is a presence in the paint.
