Reggie Evans is a nice player. He is not a scoring option but he a relentless rebounder and he is athletic.

Why didn't the Nets try to get him? They don't need offense from him. They do need his other skills to man the power fwd spot.

Reggie Evans is a really good rebounder. I dont understand why he is still available or why Seattle hasnt signed him.

How about this. Reggie Evans is a really good rebounder and a nice frontcourt defender who can stay on the court. Why on Earth didn't the Knicks just give him the MLE? B/c he's not as tall as James? Sheesh.

sorry that makes no sense to me. if you didn't bring in a guy who could play center (debates about james' ability aside for the moment) you would be not only forfeiting the season you'd be sending a bad message to the players that you all are sacrificial lambs to our quest to get another high #1 and shouldn't look to any expectations of succes this year. it would have been the administrative equivalent to the comment that came out of the toronto gm or owner's mouth.

Jerome James. He plays 15 mpg and can't stay healthy. What message is needed? The goal is to make the team better. James hardly does that. This is what rebuilding is about. You can't go signing these guys based on what they can be when they are 30 years old and never were what they can be. Kinda like Tim Thomas except less extreme. It makes perfect sense to me. Evans is a good frontcourt presence. He stays on the court and rebounds and plays defense. He WOULD have made the Knicks better than James would have. And maybe even HE could have played a little center in the East. Sorry if it doesn't make sense to you, but would have been a better option.

no I get your reasoning. it's similar to Fish' reasoning in preferring Ike to Frye. i'll put it this way - you guys do make sense to me but i disagree with you and prefer a different route. i think you're not gonna win anything with more small guys and i don't see ike or evens as being such an improvement over our pf's that they're gonna make that much of a difference. imo you have to establish height on the club or you're waisting your $100M of investments in skill players. frye and james are far from ideal but they're a good start. i don't mind judging either off their most recent performances - jj in the playoffs; frye in the ncaa's. within reason - i'm not getting crazy on them, i just think they're good pickups for the team and i think the risk is much more worth taking with them than with evaas and ike. for this team.

Evans is a really good rebounder and would be a good addition to most frontcourts in the NBA. Seattle needs a good rebounder on their front court and they still not re-signing him?

Seattle this off-season:
Resigned Ray Allen (no brainer)
Havent resigned Reggie Evans (not sure what they are waiting for)
Didnt resign Nate McMillian (which will most probably turn out to be a bad move)
Didnt resign Jerome James (no one can tell how this move will work out)

Overall, not a great offseason.

The only reason to get Reggie Evans on the Knicks is to make sure we fill our ugly quota because of the void left by JYD.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I agree Marv. Evans may be the better player but the days of playing kurt thomas and co at center are over. If we already had a Center than I would definitely take evens over james but we don't. Detroit has Big Ben but they also have Rasheed, Mcdyess, okur, rebraca and Campbell played key roles in their championship run. Now you could say Frye could've been that guy and Evans would've been the perfect complimentary player but unless Frye completely changes his game in the pros we would still be overmatched in height. I don't mind having James over Evans but I wish we had Evans over garbage like Rose, Taylor & most likely Sweetney and his 300LBs 20mins a night

Nalod. Next time, please don't make me have to read all those posts before I get to your "voice of reasoning" post.

Evans isn't the player Rose is.

Seatle won 50+ games last year surrounding their great wing trio of Allen/Lewis/Vlad with an extra shooter and 2 beasts on the glass in Fortson and Evans.

I understand and dont disagree with Marv's logic regarding height. When you dont have it its an issue. That being said our team is build around perimeter scoring. For that to work you have to OWN the glass. Evans averages something like 9 boards in 20 something minutes. Thats pretty impressive.

I like Evans, and I do believe that he is a beast on the board. If we can find a way to trade Malik or MO T., Evans will have a place on our roster.

Dolan should buy the nets and keep them as our injured reserve squad.

This way we can sign about 30 players and rotate them.

With Rose, Mo, and Sweets....do the Knicks really have the space for mor pwr fwds? Channing is probably a pwr fwd too. Don't forget Lee and Butler.

At least we don't have Scott Padgett!!!
