My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001 and to all the families who lost a loved one. It still feels like just yesterday I was worrying where my mom was. She worked about 2 blocks from the WTC and she took the train from Hoboken, NJ to the WTC everyday for over 30 years so when I heard what happened I was worried if she was ok, I didnt hear from her till about 3:00 that afternoon and thank god she was ok, those 6 or 7 hours were the longest of my life not knowing if my mom was alive or not. I cant even imagine what these families went through and still go through today. Where were you guys on that dreadful day?
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers!!!

my personal account:

i work on 18th and 6th
we all walked over to 5th with a clear view of the WTC.
and then we saw both buildings just crumble to the ground.
a friend of mine worked down there and he saw people jumping off buildings. he said they looked as if you threw a tomato against the wall.

crazy day.

I remember that when somone told me that the twin towers were hit by terrorists in airplanes, I couldnt believe it. Just insane. Wow. Still unbelievable. Really. Why are there no aircraft carriers or anti-missile defense systems near to manhattan to prevent this from occurring again?

I was sitting in class, we hadn't heard anything until after the second plane hit. All we did for the rest of the day was watch CNN coverage.

I worked late the night before ended up sleeping in my parents basement. My father woke me up telling me to watch this TV on TV...He not I realized it was real until I noticed the LIVE label in the corner. I live in Buffalo but my whole family is in NY...My uncle works blocks from the WTC, he was in charge of the bridge tolls. I remember trying to call down there for hours to see how he was. A cousin of mine was one of he people who had to walk the miles to get home from NY over the bridges. My best friend also has alot of family and friends that worked down there. Totally surreal.

I was at home sleeping when the 1st plane hit but was awoken by a phone call from my brother. He was supposed to attend a convention at the restaurant(windows on the world) that morning, but for the 1st time ever, he overslept since for some reason his alarm didnt go off.

I remember that day very well.....

I thought they were just playing footage of the first time that happened in the 90's.....They just showed the burning tower with no caption or comentary.......then a frantic female reporters voice came on saying "oh my God, I can't believe this!!!" I was like "huh???" After a few minutes I realized it must be real. I was thinking that some stupid mofo started a fire. Then I heard about a plane crash......first thing I thought of was one of those sky writers or advertising planes.......then I heard a plane fly over my building very low....it was so loud.....then a few minutes later I see the second plane hit!!!! I'm like "Oh ****!!!! Baby get in here they crashing airplanes into the WTC!!!!"

Man I got dressed so fast and ran down to get my stepson, then I ran across central park to get both of my sisters! It was crazy. Everyone was bugging outside. It was peaceful but it felt like when you are hanging in a bad neighborhood at night!!! People were mad nervous! I brought the kids back to my place, then I went out to meet my mother who was at work. I walked all over the place. Thank God all my loved ones were accounted for!!!(thank God I still had 2 good knees)

****as a side story me and my girl were supposed to go down to BMCC to registar for classes and pay our school bills but opted to stay home and do the nasty. BMCC is right in the shadow of WTC. Me and my girl used to love to go hang out in the Borders Book Store at WTC. We used to just chill down there. We would been right there in the middle of all that. That God for sex, lol!

I had an assignment on the 103rd floor and an corp. apartment for three months a few years before. I was there while my family was back in NC, I would be homesick but the fall weather is a special time in the city and had many wonderful moments working up there (the views from there on a daily basis are incredible!). I had a nice office view and had access to all four corners of the building! My first day the cloud cover was just below so it looked like you could open a window and walk on the clouds! Incredible, no words can discribe!

Battery park city is a great neighborhood itself!

The building on fire at first took me cause there is no way out for those above the fire. so much fuel! Having spend so much time there I just felt that dread. Must be so much more intense for those whom have spent years there, or lived near by.

Of course the horror of sudden and painful death.

I like many lost some good friends. Being tied to the stock market, our world stopped for a few days literally. And really, the world changed too.

Made me proud to be a New Yorker. Many nationwide were amazed how coorpertive NYers were. I tell them them New York IS America! A melting pot of culture, the gateway to and from the world. Too many folk in this country forget what it means to be an american! To many forget where there ancesters came from!
