with our LLE. He's from NY, he was the second pick in the draft, he had a very good first year, he is still young, hes a great shooter with a solid body. Even an 85% J Williams is a good player, worthy of looking into

That's why he likely wouldn't want to sign with the Knicks.

This was brought up in another thread. Jay Williams can still play the game, I always thought that he was an excellent court general while at Duke and I'm sure he's probably going to end up being a smarter player now that he's back from his accident. I think he ends up with the Heat though.

Remember Bobby Hurley? Another PG from Duke who tried to make a comeback after an automobile accident. I say no thanks - wish him luck but the Knicks have enough projects.

If Jay Williams is really recovered, let him and Jackie Butler compete for the final roster spot

I followed Jay's blog, and it left off in July that he was going to start full and final rehab with Tim Grover. If he is indeed READY to play, I would think NY makes a lot of sense for him and for the Knicks. In terms of TALENT level--even J Williams at 80 % is a much better player than a guy like Steve Blake. He is young enough that he could fully heal--this is not internal injuries like hurley--these were mainly severe leg injuries that heal much better on youthful humans. I would think that COMING from NY--NY would be a GREAT fit for him--we may have a couple of PG's in place, but you dont discount talent like that, especially if he comes in and has blow away workouts. Im not really worried about what position the talent comes from, we need MORE, if not for a keeper long term, than as a conduit to getting a serious player at another position. If I had 3 PGs and J Williams was set and looked close to J Williams from Duke--well thats to much talent to walk away from. No pressure here, he comes from NY--bring him back slowly--makes a lot of sense--if we are going to use the LLE and let guys like Allan and Penny retire--we could use J

Someone who said they wanted J 4 months ago hasnt been following his case. He has JUST started to workout for teams, just this week. 4 months ago, he wasnt even set for full rehab, so it wouldve made no sense to look at him. but obviously he is ready now and we should darn well take a look.

1+1=2
it's a no-brainer proposition, this guy was pick 2 in the 2002 draft, had a very good first year including a tripe double that I watched aginast the Nets 26 pts 13 reb 13 asss and I think he averaged 10 pts 5 assss 4 reb in year 1+hes a good 1-1 defender. Of course you wnt a guy like that-would you rather Steve Blake or Andre Barrett?

You're right Briggs, but I don't see it happening. I betcha anything that Jay Will is completely off Isiah's radar right now, for what's happened. But it definitely would be a real nice move for the future. However, if we do get him, I see other people needing to go.

^ did you read the rest of allanfan's post? Personally I believe jay williams has a great nba career in front of him. But we are stacked there and have our own "super" draft pick to develop, mr. nate robinson. We have no chance whatsoever in acquiring him.

Like Test said, did you take the time to read the next 3 words? Maybe Isiah really liked him before the accident, everyone did, but this is what Isiah would be thinking if he were on his radar: "I got the greatest player in the world in Stephon Marbury, at the guard, as well as Crawford, Nate, Q and SLIGHTLY POSSIBLY Allan. Where is the need for J-Will?" How about Marbury could possibly start declining to this day, we don't know which Q we will be getting and how Larry will react to him. It makes plenty of sense to give J-Will a shot. I just don't see how Isiah would want to give him one though. I'm pretty sure you wont be seeing J-Will on our roster this season, but if their is, I'll drink about a teaspoon of the Kool Aid.

I dont agree with that. Jay is from NY, he loves the Knicks, he wanted the Knicks to drfat him. While we have nate, lets not grant anyone king status who hasnt played a minute. If Jay is healthy--or evebn close to the Jay of old, OF COURSE we have room for him, he would be considered an superior talent to nate, even if that proves not true. Jay Williams i a tough-nosed highly competitive winner with a huge talent level. You dont go pick 2 in most cases if that wasnt true. The NY Knicks need more talent--whjat a smart way t0 acquire some-cheap---there ws NO way we would get this guy if he didnt hurt himself--its a no-brainer and for JAY it makes a lOt of sense--he oWNS a home in NY-he wouldnt be asked to do so much right away and we do NEED the depth
